Hello, long term lurker, 1st time poster, thought it was about time i introduced myself!
Ive done a couple of grows this year, Autos indoors in a budbox, ive used them to experiment with various things such as soil/feed/lights etc, but overall have been quite pleased with the yield and quality of the end product, i know that they seem to get a bad press but they really worked for me.
Ive had sucess in growing LR#2 in a mix of cat litter and normal compost, something i picked up from my Bonsai tree hobby.
Works very well and promtes very healthy root growth.
I also did a seed run on one of the females, which means i dont think il ever have to buy #2 again!
Ive recently brought a new Ruck fan and carbon filter, i had no filtration before, and i have learned the hard way that this isnt the best idea.
Im off to Amsterdam next month on a Friends Stag, so hopefully will do a little seed shopping over there, and try something a bit more advanced than LR.

Quite a few people grow auto's on here mate so you shouldnt get any stick for it
I have never heard of the cat litter and normal compost but if it works then i might try in on a grow and experiment, which type of cat litter was it? (i know you can get wood pelets and other stuff)
Hope you have a wicked time in the dam, there is a board on here about the dam and cafe shops that you might get some good info off

I know it sounds a bit strange, but i was recommended it for my Bonsai trees, and it really does work.
There are 2 brands that i know that are suitable, tesco premium lightweight and sophisticat pink.
Its basically fired clay granules, but absorbant, leaves plenty of room for roots to grow, and let air get to them.
After using a couple of trees for testing when i first heard about it, i now have all my bonsai in 100% litter.
It helps as it makes it impossible to overwater anything, as the water just flows out of the bottom when enough has been absorbed, at chop time the root systems seem extremely healthy indeed.
It does mean that you have to water a bit more frequently, and adjust feeding as the soil mix doesnt hold onto nutrients or moisture too readily, but added bit of compost/soil helps with that.
It really does work, both for Bonsai,Cacti,chillies and my autos, so i thought id just throw the idea out there, as i havent seen it mentioned in the same breath as growing more exotic plants!

Yep, no problem, as soon as ive cleared my chillies out of my tent, im going to start, Got given some White widow seeds, and my batch of Lowryder Diesel arrived today (along with a DNA sour cream freebee), so was going to start sooner rather than later.
