Hi everyone new to the forum...

just a quick question. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions or advice on what i can do. The place where i plan to grow doesn't have any kind of electricity source so i was wondering about getting some kind or generator but no idea what exactly i would need or if i could work?

any suggestion or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Jennys use a lot of fuel....you'll need a constant supply so don't know how practical it'll be unless you get an industrial sized one...slightly conspicious...!!! You'd be filling a regular jenny every few hours IMO...Sorry !

How about a gas powered geni... of course the live span depends on how much you draw

Aye they cost a mint, £70 for 36 hours to run a 70kva on diesel. Plus what youd pay to hire it.

Mmmm, going to look at the gas ones billious, thanks!

Waste Motor Oil burner (free fuel) -> Stirling engine (won't explode) -> alternator.

You might be old and grey by the time you sort it but it could be a fun project.

only if you're pulling 70kva from it!!! that's a feck load of power!!! plus that's a fucking huge genny, how about a 6kva genny, how much power are you actually planning on using?

for those not in the know...

you can make your own diesel fuel for about 12p-15p if not cheaper depending on various factors such as bulk buying chemicals to do it etc...

anyways..

it could be done.

Surely people would wonder why a generator is running constantly for that amount of time.iv got a couple generators but not got much faith in them running constantly for 2-3 months 24/7 .just seems a nightmare to do it off generators noise and fuel.shit I take electric for granted.

dont under or over estimate the load, gennys run best at around 80% of full load, low loads can cause voltage fluctuations and if its diesel possible do the engine no favours, also diesels can be a pain to re prime if the fuel runs out.
