Hi,

Thanks for looking.

I got a 400w HID ballast and I thought it would be a piece of cake to wire,
but I would like some re-assurance/guidance from the good peeps here, please!

I did a search but couldn't find anything - but I'm pretty sure this must have been covered before...?

(here's the link to prove it ;-)

Anyways - here's some pics of it...

Thanks a lot!

The bit that got me worries was I can see where the mains goes in and where the lamp current/voltage goes out...

but where the mains goes in there's only one pin for the live - and none for the neutral...

so I needed to check it out..

I would be a bit worried personally about having to wire my own ballast. unsure.gif I would defo reccomend buying one off fleebay if you can as ballasts can get dangerously hot at the best of times if not digital.

Sorry i dont have any advice on how to wire a ballast and this is probably the last thing you wanna hear but i think better to be safe then sorry.

Sorry again for the dampner.

Goodtimes, I understand! Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate your time to post.

Jerzey Devil, Cheers! I understand *your* wiring very easily, but doesn't seem to match mine...any ideas for mine?

Thanks, guys, worked it out!

One clips to the other - I couldn't understand how i would screw the terminals when the unit was clipped but theres a proper gap to do that...

Plus I worked out that the mains and lamp connections are push fit rather than screw - so I'll be fitting a kettle style plug unit to make this as safe as poss.

If I don't post by next week you know I've fried!

Cheers guys!

quick reply, the box on the left is your ballast the box on the right is your capacitor and ignitor combined.

good glad you got it
