Does anyone have any advice for harvesting individual branches as opposed to whole plant.
Parts of my plants are showing signs that they are very nearly ready (trichomes ripe) while other bud areas will need more time.
Is it just a case of harvest whats ready and leave on whats not, taking off individual branches, buds or harvest the lot?
Any advice is welcome as its a first time show and I want to make the best of it that I can. Thanks in advance

i don't think theres any problems associated with harvesting parts of the plant at different times. usually find it's the top parts that are the first to be ready and i think many people harvest half a plant at a time. then the lower buds that receive less light are given more time to mature. i would do it bit at a time if i could (not going to be practical with getting to the outdoor site for me to do it like that). if i was growing indoors i would tho. i think you would increase your yeild aswell if you let other buds mature but i don't know how significant this would be.

Thanks Janet16 your spot on top parts mature, bottom not so. Half sounds like what I need to do, I wasn't sure if it affected the rest of the plant maturing. Garden/greenhouse grow so no problems doing half, I'll start sharpening the axe now Timmmmmbbber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus: I often harvest small buds post day 50; I'm usually weedless by then, so off they come. My Smile is ripening bottom first, the Blues the other way round. But I'm just enjoying the first small ripe airbuds off them both now with a full harvest due over the next two weeks.

In terms of your question: yup, harvest the ripe buds and branches if you wish. The remainder will carry on ripening at their leisure.

Re Trichomes and bottom-first ripening: be careful not to follow hard'n'fast ideas. Some plants ripen bottom up, others don't. Some have aber trichs, some dont. Some go amber when over-ripe, others when perfectly ripe, others never at all. And hey, guess what? I've seen the same plant change its mind from one harvest to another!
Plants - living things, you see, and prone to take the piss. I think they enjoy playing with our heads in more ways than one.

I've done this on both my grows, harvest the big main cola first and then drop the lights right down ontop of the lower branches.

Only thing is, it seems like the plant stops doing anything for a few days and then the lower ones start to mature again. So not sure how much it's worth doing.
