I'm having issues with my Fibromyalgia and am having to go back to the Doctor for more meds as the Sativex although is working well for pain its doing bo diddlys ass for the rest of the symptons.
Which are as follows :-

Brain Fatigue which ranges from mild localised panic sensations these can last for days to total can't be fucked to get up, which i beat every day and get up sometimes a little late.

Sleep Disorder I get to sleep no problem at all but wake up what seems like a couple hundred times a night, i am taking Amitriptylin for this with some success.

Irritable bowel syndrome symptoms,

Chronic headaches, i've improved these a lot by using transition lenses but they do still give me some shyte.

Memory impairment At the present time its the little things i keep forgetting and its doing my fooking head in.

Dizziness

Impaired coordination Again minor at the moment like dropping things i've actually got a grip of the odd stumble like someones shook the world, quite funny tbh.

Anyway what meds are you taking and with what success, any side effects, i'm thinking about asking for Pregabalin/Lyrica but thats about as far as i've got.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sibbs, I would be very careful with Pregabalin. I'm on it, and part of me is hugely glad of that, whilst another part of me is very sad about it. Here's the rub, it will rob you of two things. Sexual desire, and performance. To put a word on it: Limp. And another two words: Not interested.
But.... I no longer have radical RLS. Thanks to Pregab, my legs are almost still, almost in control. They still wake me during the night with painful twitching, but nowt like it used to be.
But I'm as much use as a lump of warm lard in other respects, mostly.

About Fibromyalgia, I aint a clue really. I know the symptoms are very similar to some of mine, but that's about it. Is there a physical catalyst in your case, or is the Fibromyalgia typical, with cause unkown? Oddly enough, having a physical cause for my symptoms is a relief, most Fibromylagia patients however have no such cause. That must be dreadful.

Hope you garner some wisdom old bean. This has saddened me somewhat as I have been looking at you with such envy, the Sativex miracle man! And you damned well deserved it after all you've been through. Man, I really do hope you get on top of this, we don't want to see you getting dragged down again! Be well, my man, be well!

Sibs these are all symptoms of your fybro being very active and affecting the cns. Your out of remission and I found Sativex hides this until you body and cns says enough is enough and stops you in your tracks.

Take some time out, chill and rest is the best script.

Balance Sibs that's what is needed.

hiya, we have a lot of the same symptoms.... i've been diagnosed with the lot.

not yet tried sativex. at the moment tramadol is the painkiller of choice for bad days but overall i am trying to cut back on all meds just to see what life is like without them. am trying "alternative therapies" with mixed results. i'm on a mega doseage of high quality fish oil capsules - not sure whether it's my imagination but they might be making a difference in the brain fog. being foggy sucks rotten eggs in hell.

i use weed to help with the muscle spasms and to relax the muscles after times when they've been contracting and in stress and feel like they are going to shatter into a thousand pieces. i tried homeopathic remedies for this but they did bugger all.

one of the most important things for me is the quality and amount of sleep i get. it feels like shite to wake up a dozen times a night. i use clonazepam (0.5mg)which sometimes helps and again combining it with weed helps - but a heavy indica. i do what i can to have a restful sleep routine as bad sleep means bad daytime and bad everything else. i take a calcium/magnesium supplement before bed too. i'm teaching myself reflexology and trigger point massage. not sure how they will work out but it's worth the try.

i'm at my wits end at the moment with the IBS as it's in a severe phase and hope someone else posts with suggestions.

i wish you peace.

I think pregabalin may be option to add in to your regime of sativex/amitriptyline. It is useful but has significant side-effects however on balance probably worth a go. Failing that try coming off the amitriptyline and pregabalin and get your doctor to try duloxetine instead. I too would try a heavy indica before bed to see if that helps beyond the sativex.

Saw the Doc this morning and fair play to him he's not going to put me on any more pills/potions due to my hyper sensitivity to side effects, so what he's done is increase my Amitriptylin to 35mg he also wants more blood tests and wants to see me 2 weeks after the bloods been taken.

idk much about your condition, but you said any help, and something did jump out at me...

detoxification is nearly always a good thing. smile.gif
take various methods and techniques in conjunction, and most especially i reccomend alot of very gentle massage to help the lymphatic system. idk how well fibromyalgia fairs with trampolines, but i recently learned that a couple minutes on a trampoline a day really help the lymphatic pathways move stuff about. idk if that's applicable, but the softness of a lymph massage is surely acceptable, n the imune system always benefits from such relaxing therapies anyway. smile.gif al the best. smile.gif

and do not underestimate the benefit of getting out and hugging a big stone or tree. smile.gif

Typical i took the 35mg of Amitriptylin and had next to no sleep because all i did all night was fucking sweat, i shall try again tonight but if i get the same result i'll just have to drop the dosage again.
I have a suspicion for some reason the old body just doesn't like pharmaceuticals.

I know of people whose doc told them they had "a wee touch of fibromyalgia".
Doc guessed me with gout first off. Then an inflamed liver was the next guess. After a while somebody checked out all the signs and symtoms. They diagnosed FMS. The reason from one doc was body abuse (motorbike accidents and physical injuries) and from another doc the fms was because I had glandular fever as an adult (30 odds yrs). Who do you believe? I can suffer away these days without medical intervention, probably partly because I don't trust the medics, and partly because I have been lucky and managed to organise my lifestyle around the FMS.

Divert.
I'm in poor form this evening anyways. My mate was "hospitalised" today. They had him for less than 2 hours before they diagnosed "chronic cannabis psychosis". The lad would drink a full bottle of spirits every day (brandy or rum), but they found his grow box, and it seems they have made up their minds. Simple alcoholic who has been taking unsuprvised lithium for 6 years. The chemist didn't notice, the doc didn't notice, and the poor sod didn't have the wit to tell anyone. The script just went on running and the lad just went on taking the tablets.
Now the lad has the horrors of drink, and it turns out he had been seeing and hearing things since primary school, long before he discovered rum or marijuana. The demons have broken through his intoxication, but he will be treated (labeled) as a chronic psychotic cannabis user......forever, no matter what his underlying problems are.

Sorry, bit of rant.
