hiya peep's, about to start my new room, w=120 d=75 h=240, was thinking of getting a 600w mantis due to the room length, am thinking that it can be mounted so the wings open length ways, that way it will give a more even spread??
had been thinking of getting the diamond one, but after reading that it might cause some heat issues, i changed my mind.
now after doing some more reading, well, i'm now unsure as to which one.
would appreciate any thoughts on the issue.
am ordering my stuff on monday, so obviously want to order light with it.

Parabolic from greens horticulture or even a grostar but there pricey, but then its a one of cost, your room is even better than most for them as you've got extra height

cheers, have not long mailed greens to enquire about the parabolic ones, the site says out of stock till the end of the month and i really wanted to order my gear asap(tomorow preferably)
want to stick with greens if poss as i have had stuff off them in the past without any problems, plus ya get a 10% discount which is quite a few bob saved on a complete set up.

The paras are a metre in diameter so won't fit unless you're prepared to bend it to fit. They have their good points, I use them, love the even lighting but in situations where they're not good, eg. stretched plants giving you height problems, they're bloody awful. I keep a euro reflector to swap them when need be.

thanks for the replies, much appreciated, am getting everything from greens so may as well get the diamond for now and see how it goes, it is gonna be a huge difference no matter what compared to my current 250 set up, if i can keep the heat down then all good and well, if not, s'pose its not a big job to change to a mantis later on.
thanks peep's.

I've got a Mantis 600 - very good spread of light when opened fully.

shame you cant fit a grostar in there ones going cheap on ebay
otherwise the diamond will do a top job for you

Or check out the adjustawing - I love them because they're very low profile (around 15cm I think, maybe less) and the put out great spread of light. They do put out hotspots though, so you can use the heat shield to both diffuse the light and also to get the canopy closer (you can use a heat shield with any reflector, but the adjustawings need them - I use one on a 400w and nothing on the 600w).

once again, thanks for the replies.
ok, if i get my light off greens, along with my other gear, i get a decent discount, i have 2 options, either go with the diamond, and maybe change it later, or get the euro set up, which is £50 cheaper, that way, i would only have to add another tenner and i could get the mantis from elsewhere and just swap em, plus, i would have the euro as a spare.
appreciate the input from all, thanks.
it's not easy picking your gear when on a budget, so many options and obviously i want the best for my room.
will let ya know how i get on, will hopefully have it by the w/end.

Having the Euro as a spare is good but having an extra 50 quid in your pocket for emergencies is a real good option. The first grow or three can present problems that'll make you glad you kept some cash in reserve.
