This is my first time germinating and growing seeds. They are nothing special. Just some I collected a few months ago. They are about 2-3 days old. Do they look like they are doing okay or should they be bigger? I am using nute free water right now.

C'est la vie
the seedling look like there coming out of the rockwool mate, you shouldnt be seeing the fuzzy hairs at the ends.

Yeah - ¿you don't happen to live in zero-gravity do you? unsure.gif

Either that fuzzy thing is the roots, which is bad - it means that the seedling is upside-down, or it's mouldy (which is also bad). spliff.gif

No need to start again mate

Carefully rip open the cube so you can get the seedling out, then replace back in with the fluffy root down, then gently close the cube back up and use a laggy band to hold it together, but not too tight

Good advice, I did this once and the seed turned out to be the only female in a pack of 10 POG's. If I'd chucked it £50 down the drain.

Made me a few clones and a bumper crop.

I read that the seeds should be planted "pointy side up" thinking that meant the white root pointing up. I read that the root is supposed to take a turn down to help remove the seed casing when it sprouts. Was I wrong? The plants are growing and righting themselves at this point. If I do have to turn them upside down I will do it when I put them in 4" cubes to hold the 1" together. That way i can get the white hairs under the rockwool.

Normally gravity sorts the seedlings out, as they will point their taproot down if they find themselves the wrong way up - that's why I asked the OP if he happened to live in zero-G. wink1.gif

Yeah, I just put mine in the soil whatever way and they all seem to come up ok...

Maybe they've been left in the dark or something?

Yeah those tiny little hairs are normal, usualy lower down the root not usually all the way to the seed but that might be somthing to do with it being upside down, if their was a problem with the root it wouldn't be a nice white like that, good job tmpearson thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Well, they sprouted. One has a loop in it's stem. Hopefully it will sort itself out as it gets bigger.
