Hey guys i got a new toy today and i think every grower should have 1 of these or something similar

only cost £2.99 with FREE POSTAGE anyway ive babbled on for too long already

the match picture was just taken with my cam fone through the loupe i probably could have got a closer pic, but with only having 1 hand i find it difficult holding 2 things at once

will look at some trichs later through it... i thought i could tell by looking with naked eye when trichs are ready or thru a cheap magnifying glass........ my god i was wrong and i`ll never get my timing wrong again...now i can see when the trichs are properly ready...

great little bit of kit for the price, i got one and you can get in nice and close, enough to tell whether the trichs are clear, milky or turning amber

I've got one I picked up at a steam rally £4 works fine for trich viewing, bastard to try and take a picture with though.

Essential bit of kit really, very useful when I actually have to buy weed as I pull it out and have a quick look first my dealer hates me for it as I keep telling him his weed is shit and full of contaminents and he loses sales because of it.

Nice bit of kit, but remember .... not all plants show amber trichs, and not all amber trichs are good. Some strains go brown/amber when over-ripe and deteriorating. Some strains don't even show amber at all. And, of course, some strains are at their best when trichs are amber.
Point being: Amber trichs aren't a final proof of anything. They [i[may[/i] indicate ripeness and time to harvest. Or they may not.

I find there are better ways of knowing when to harvest. But a Loupe is certainly a decent bit of kit to have and another good tool to put in the box. I must try and remember to get one, one day.

Which way's are they then mate? as I have always just gone by trichs and pistles turning brown, on all the starins I have grown and its all been great smoke. But if their is something else it would be good to know

Me personally I prefer to go on pistils and calyxes, when there fully swollen and the pistils are nearly all brown with just a few white pistils there ready for me

! The scary thing is i have just had one of them through the post like 2 days ago

I used to have a fancy little magnifier and I would patiently inspect the triches, still used to deliberate all the time about when was best..

Now I just go by the look of the buds, if the calyxes are swollen, closed up , and not producing any more pistils, that's when I harvest...always seems to be fine really...

I grow from Mother plants to start with, using only clones. First time I grow a strain, I take it at day 56 regardless. Second time, day 63, third time day 70. Fourth time, I make a decision and after that I know when to harvest. It takes time, and requires patience. But as the smoke test is the only real true guide, this method whilst long-winded is faultless
If I were growing full Sativas, I would do the first one at day 63 and then go up from there maybe up to over 100 days. But the method woud be the same.
Of course, in a bigger grow, all this can be done off one harvest.
