Hi all I have in my window 3 pot plants with mould on them. An Orange plant, Australian Black Bean (v. cool plant) & a Coffee plant. All of them have bits of mould on their surafce of the soil I think from where I have been feeding them coffee grounds.
It's not affecting the plants I don't think but it looks manky. What should I do to get rid of it? Thanks

Top dress them mate,
Don't know what size pots so I can't say how deep to do it.
Scrape away the poor compost with a fork and replace with good compost, the plants will love it and have their looks restored.

Thanks for replying mate, the biggest pot is the orange at about 30 cm high by 30cm wide, smallest is cofee about about 7" by 5" so not got too much room there. Think I'm gonna try and scrape the top off like you suggest just gotta be careful not to damage any roots.

Don't worry about the roots,
They will love a bit of a scrape, plants don't need to be wrapped in cotton wool it does them no good, trust me

When you say mould - what does it look like? Usually pots will sprout either mosses or liverworts if they are a little damp or the compost has gone sour and lost it's drainage ability.
Ripping the roots with a fork or suchlike will encourage fresh surface feeder roots. Top dress with grit/ hydroleca after the compost to prevent re-occurance.

Whats Hydroleca Andy ?
Never heard of it.
A good scrape is the best option I think
