This is prob a v unusual question, but does anyone know of any product, pref nontoxic, that boars really don't like? They are a pest where I live and their favourite pastime is to dig up peoples gardens and eat the roots. As I'm thinking of guerilla I have to address this prob... Any info or lateral thoughts welcome!

treeofsatta: lol.gif! rofl.gif "Bang! Trotters off my crop, pig, and let that be a lesson to you!"

chilli: Seems you and treeofsatta are in the same groove. "Take no prisoners! Eat the buggers!"

maryjane: So... know of any online big cat poo delivery services ? Actually, hmmmm, maybe that's worth looking into. As in, I wonder what the fairly local zoo does with its feline crap? "Yes officer? Oh, yes, the tiger and lion poo? The 250 kilos of tiger and lion poo in the back of my car? Well, you'll never believe this but..." Still, who knows?

Lion or Tiger poo

Does this really work as Iam guessing a wild boar would only really be aware of it's natural preditors in a location and as lion's and Tiger's are prob from a diff continent from the wild boars, if they american or european boars I would go with Bear poo as this is a natural local preditor,
Are wild boar's territoral if so you could use other wild boar poo.... but if they are territorial dont get caught smelling of other wild boar poo as they will attack you in this situation climb a tree and cling on they can be nasty

It's an interesting point... they might just ignore the stuff or even scoff it sick.gif Depends whether boars are hardwired for that kind of thing or whether it's a learned response... The bear idea is good too, but the nearest are around 700 miles away, so the same reasoning might apply.

Hm, just read about territoriality; it doesn't seem to be the case, although they go around in groups quite often. I've had 2 encounters so far, one with a group of about 5, and a solitary, but in both cases they just wandered off. Still, two girls got ripped up and hospitalized by one a year or so ago round here, but it had already been wounded by a bullet...

Anyway, therre's only one real way to find out about the crap approach and that's give it a go! rofl.gif

Sounds crazy, but you might be able to get your hands on some lion or tiger poo at your local zoo???! It probably makes awesome fertilizer too smile.gif

You are not kidding they are pests; everyone round here hates them 'cos of the damage they cause. I don't have access to a gun, but it wouldn't be of any use as my planned site is on a distant mountain and I'd have to set up a permanent camp there for 4 months, somewhat defeating the idea of guerilla grow, altho the gun would lend the term "guerilla" some weight! I agree about the scarers, a lot of noise and no effect. I've thought about covering all but a crack with huge rocks. It might work. But a pal had a pet boar and they are unbelievably strong. And barbed-wire is no use, they march straight through it like it's bunting. Of course, I could solve all this by doing a platform grow, but I want to plant in mother earth, so that's out. I'm even more inspired after seeing Undercover F's GG using orange bud on this subforum. Wow!

Thanks GN, see the discussion above, but I hadn't thought of the fert angle. I wonder what the chemical profile of tiger/lion shit is? I know that different types of manure have different profiles. They are meat eaters, so I guess, and it's only a guess, that N would be low ? Maybe good during flowering though cool.gif

You could try getting your local redneck to go with up there with you and his gun, for payment of an ounce or two when its ready?
You could try digging like a pitfall moat all the way around your plants?
You could try traps and junk on the animal trials that go through the area?
You could try getting a big angry dog or two from the dogs home, there are some breeds which were bred for fighting boars n what not. You could fence them in, in an big area around your plants, put a little kennel up there etc..?

Just a few ideas.....
station
electric fence!!!!!!

Pigs are as intelligent as dogs, without some form of deterent they will ignore the lights after the first few times.
TwoRoach
Yeah but by then you would have enough light to just pick them off with the rifle w00t.gif
