I've heard that there's going to be heat detector vans going around my county in the near future (and many others from what I've read on the net) see here for a scarily accurate video of them in action:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009...carbonemissionsWhat I want to know is how good this anti-infrared myalr is that I've seen in grow shops?
I've already got a tent with double skinned normal white/ black mylar covering on it, and I'm thinking of using some more but anti-infrared stuff on the inside. Anyone got any ideas on how good it really is?
Cheers. tokerdude

if your envoiroment is setup properly it shouldnt be no hotter than what lots of other people would have every room in their house in warmed to at this time of year

its a myth that they can see through walls. they can only read the temperature of a surface. so aslong as your lamp/ballast isn't pressed up against the window I wouldn't worry.

The lamp and the ballast are inside a tent in my loft, and that's already double skinned with black/ white mylar although the ballast is outside of it for now (going to move it inside in the cooler weather). I'm just concerned that the tents roof is about 3" from the actual roof tiles and thought it will transfer SOME heat to the tiles above, and also the actual loft itself will be slightly warmer, even if it is just a little bit compared to neighbours.
The idea of getting a mini-fridge and running the carbon filter inside it is a good one..just need to cut a hole in it big enough for the 4" ducting to fit through, and another couple of small holes drilled fo rthe filtered air to escape.
Looking at the video in that link their camera's are friggin REALLY acurate, scarily so.

And I pretty sure that it represents an invasion of privacy on some levels. I mean, if you're not properly insulated against heat loss for your home it isn't a crime.....wasteful perhaps, but not a crime.
More of your tax dollars being used to support a nanny state....

@ Scribb|e.
scarily accurate at telling you you need cavity wall insulation. don't see how they could find a grow, they can see the outside surface temp of your roof but can't any further than that.
