Was scanning the net last night and came across a few place's that recomended Cinnamon not as a cure to get rid of the little pesky blighter's but as a prevenative they don't like the smell apparently the site's also said that cinnamon had fungicidal properties is this true I have no cinnamon at mo and was wondering if anyone else had heard of or tried this. any feedback appreciated

had probs with them. The Best thing to do is cover the top of the soil with 1/4 of washed sand to kill off the larve and cyder vineger traps for the flies as they can not see only smell.

Yeah Nu I know how to get rid of them it's just if they hate the smell of cinnamon then prevention is better than cure

yes but the smell goes away from the cinnamon after a couple of days, if you spread it across the soil the smell goes away quicker because you have to water the plants and the cinnamon mixes in with the soil. if you could find away to make the smell last longer it would be good.

Best way to prevent them is not buying cheap soil that has sat outside a grden center and keeping your grow area clean

you got a point there Nu, about the smell going off and i do clean m8 but will agree on the outside storing of compost not a good idea by the store's

only time i had fungus gnats was when i used liquid bat guano, i stopped using the guano and the gnats went and never came back.
