after a very handy headsup last week , i've decided to get me a biodiesel filter to try to make dry sift- this';ll get mixed with bho of the remains after the sifting.
Basically i just need to know what wouldbe the ideal size gauze to use ?
Assuming im only gonna use 1 ,is ther any rweal advantage in using more for dry sift especially considering that it'll all get mixed up into jelly hash at the end anyway.
Thanks folks
Lennon
I just use a filter out of a Coffee machine for my dry sift works a treat not sure what size the screen is though....

Not sure if you've seen it but this is a good thread:-Coffee filter hash cool.gif

cheers lennon sir,
not seen that b4 , looks ideal ,
but im still really into the biodiesel filter plan , only because i have to buy something for making , and the bio-filter'd also allow me to have a go at a proper ghetto style icehash making .

any ideas on mesh sizes peeps??

I use 43T screen printing mesh.
I made a sieve out of a piece of this mesh using three washing up bowls and a hot glue gun - works a treat.

The bowls must be the same.
Take one bowl and cut the bottom out of it.
Take a second bowl and from this cut a 'collar' - take it from about 2cm from the bottom of the bowl.
Put your mesh over the bowl with a hole and then use spots of hot glue to keep it in place.....work opposite to opposite and you'll get a nice tight mesh like a drum skin.
Put the collar in place over the outside of the mesh and glue it in place......this keeps the mesh nice and snug and looks tidy.
Use the final bowl as your collection vessel......it helps if this is a nice dark colour.

okay thanks ganja and fai,
ok here is the descrip of what im considering , although after fai post im now unsure ,
tbh the main reason for doing this is because i find bho really unmanageable and a bit of a pain to 'use',
i normally mix the bottom of grinder stuff with it to make it a bit less oily, and easier toplay with.

"Wine - Beer Making Filter/Strainer
100 micron

Description

These strainers are a great way to strain/filter wine or beer in the making process.
Simply place the filter into a five-gallon bucket (as shown above) or another suitable container and pour the the wine/beer through the filter.

These Filters are available in four different sizes .
600, 400, 200,100 and 75 micron.

The filters can be easily hand washed and used over and over again.

These filters are stackable i.e. the 600 will fit into the 400, the 400 into the 200 and the 200 into the 100 micron etc

They are made of plastic with a nylon filter screen.

The filter sizes are approximately 300mm diameter and 100mm deep.

am i ok with this or would 75 be easier ,
i like your diy plan too fai , but i reckon this way may be even cheaper??
