I don`t want to sound paranoid but can we be tracked via the internet, is it safe?
I was walking along near my house one day when, BAM out of the blue the damn internet jumped out infront of me and proceded to mug me. It took my wallet and phone and gave me a good kicking. Bastard....

We have 36,012 registered members and not one has been busted through this site or they would have told us by now

Its a bit of a daft question to be fair. Track what? What sites you go to ? Single you out and watch you on here? What do you mean?
My view is that anybody could be tracked/hacked by various agencies on the web, the technology is there and it is used, however there has to be good reason to use it and good reason is not someone growing a bit of herb. If you are imagining some people sat in a room with thousands of screens saying "Lads, I think this one is growing pot, scramble the helicopters and the speed boats, he's growing Killer Skunk, actually bring a machine gun, I think he has a Bobblehead" then stop smoking for a while and/or stop using the web

they know these sites exist, they also know we just do it for home grown and not commercial growing so they're not really interested in home growers just the big ones, chance of getting busted is down to the individual keeping schtum

I don't trust the internet at all. I trust some websites but not the internet as a whole.

Well yes, but that doesn't meant "They" are not watching you as you type on this thread. I expect its a team of 10 or more that are onto you, and them satellites can read your newspapers.
ANYONE can be on the internet just like ANYONE can be on the streets. The internet, the information super highway, is as safe as the streets. Look both ways, be safe and no one gets hurt.
People can only see what your going on if they have access to your computer remotely (via backdoor trojan and such)or if they have hacked into the network you are using, they can capture all the data passing between your computer and the router in the form of packets, and these packets can be decrypted to reveal passwords and such for online banking or whatever, so you have to make sure you have anti-virus and good firewall, the best firewall software that i would recommend is called "Blackice ISS", oh and isp's could log what sites you been on but the dont becouse of the amount of data that they would have to store would be out of this world, plus i dont think it would be legal for them to do it anyway.

The Internet can be perfectly safe if used sensibly - what makes me laugh is the number if people like the OP (and he's far from being the first) who start raving about 'being tracked', police, and 'proxies', but they're doing all this ranting from a totally infested XP box that has had more viruses, trojans and other malware installed on it than some daft teenager's PC who's just discovered LimeWire for the fist time.
Use it with a decent OS that's been looked after, and follow at least some sensible rules for data cleanliness and protection and you can take yourself way out of that group that's always undesirable to be a member of, 'The Low Hanging Fruit.'
