Hey.

Looking to make a simple 1 Variac, 1 fan controller box with the honeywell T6360 thermostat for full power override.

So I can control lights off temps on the variac and make the fan idle low and have a powerboost from the thermostat as needed. I will probably add another variac to control the highspeed running off the thermostat but thats for another day (if needed)

Got all the bits, cable glands, rated box etc.

I've searched a few times and only come up with this diagram for the 1 variac, 1 stat setup.

Is this correct?

Shown on the link above?

Once again I need low speed activity controlled off the variac and the stat to give me a full boost from the fan as needed.

Cheers.

i made a 2 variac controller with the same thermostat, here
i wired my honeywell up wrong & its not working & i need to get the finger oot & sort it spliff.gif
other than that, the variac works great.

Looked at that cheers. I don't need to use this thermostat, just had one here, if anyone has this setup going with another stat let me know, + the wiring ta.

Never fitted that particular thermostat but the wiring diagram looks sound mate

Just need to pickup some 5 core flex for the thermostat lead, neater to use 5 core!

Also some spade connectors.

Pretty sure I have it worked out.

I've made this box arrangement as the main unit. You plug the fan into the socket, this controller will live outside the room with any others I daisy chain in as needed. Soon I'll just add in another variac to control the high speed/high temp. I've layed out with the extra connector block slots so I can just tweak a few wires to add things in. Also room for a relay if needed.

Having a seperate 5 core for the stat means I can just move the wires around to do various things without any real rewiring needed.

Should be somewhat future proof, I have a few more of these boxes.

Well thats a wrap.

I wired it up differently than the diagram, my way allows me to simply add another variac / box or multiples by swapping/adding wires on the connector block.

Switching is what I am doing but I am putting 240V to the fan when the stat setting is reached.

It works and dims a bulb just fine and switches fine.

I'll draw a diagram sometime smile.gif

About as neat as I can make it!

Just need my fan to arrive now...

looks ace matey, very tidy indeed clapping.gif

so, did you use the 5 core for the stat then ?
as i really need to get mine sorted.

Cheer Man, doesn't take any longer to do a neat job that a shit one smile.gif Usually doing this wiring etc on creatures of the 4 wheeled kind.

Yes 5 core found some at ripoff prices in my local B&Q. Saved using two cores etc.

Fan is connected to terminal 1.

The variac connected to terminal 3 (or 4, can't remember the unit is outside)

240V is connected to terminal 4 (or 3).

Basically the stat switches between 3-4 terminals and uses terminal 1 as the constantly supplied output.

When I add another variac I will simply move the 240V feed to the stat terminal 3or4 in the connector block to another location to connect with the 2nd variac output.

Intend to get more complex but not atm smile.gif

I can see why yours won't work.

If you want to use the stat as a relay trigger only you must connect 1 terminal to 240v and use terminals 3-4 as your triggers for the relay/s, or if in a car, you can trigger the relays using an earth system instead, it's safer, I am not exspurt on 240Volts though smile.gif

Easy.

right, ready when you are

What you after? smile.gif

You can switch two relays with the thermostat of course...otherwise its terminal 1 240 and use whatever terminal 3-4 depending on if you want the stat to switch on or off at X temp smile.gif

Hi GusHansen

i managed to get some 5 core cable to get the stat working, any chance you can give me a hand with some info ?

this is how i wired the stat

& this is the diagram i followed, its not on the diagram but i added an earth connection.
