High guys girls, just getting a wee bit para about my leccy. took a look at my meter readin on the 10th of july, it was 30221 old type meter with one set of numbers, and two small red ones, which I ignored. Had a look today as I know the nasty bill is due too drop through the post box any day now doh.gif 21st september 09 and it is now 30951. Does this mean I've used 730 kw? I think my tariff with sg is 11p or 12p a kw, cant find any paperwork in the habit of shredding everything, so could be wrong on this. Does this look like a lot of usage, running a 250w hps not much else noobie hehe and very basic. Finding though that the temps and humidity are pretty good ahh tis the perfect time of year for gardening offtopic.gif Anyway back too it how would i work out roughly how much my bill might be, and yeah does this look like a lot of usage. Or am I just being a bit para, though not in the habit of being para just when it comes too money grr. cheers guys girls hope this makes sense.

thats fine should get a bill for 80 pounds ish

if you have used 730 kw and cost is 10p/kw (easy for calculation) add a nought on the end to make 73.00 pounds

Yeah - and if it's considerably more and you haven't had your meter read in a while, then submit a reading and get off inaccurate estimates. thumbsup.gif

i run a 250w setup ....probably nearer 350 w with fans and all. My bills usually come in at about £90 with my general household useage included.

unless you're on an old powercard meter, they dont need access to change tarriff. it can be done on a key meter when you buy more credit through the shops paypoint machine

I've got a key meter anyhoo, so why do they want in?, can they or do they "read" key meters?, noo I'm the one getting paranoid unsure.gif

rofl.gif lol.gif tis contagious hehe.I'm not so much now, but yeah had them sniffing round for a reading. And got the obligatory card through the door. I dont like letting them in, as my meter is in the bedroom, and so are the girls. But panic over, gave them a reading online. Just need to look forward to my bill now grr not. sad.gif Cheers again xxx

I was wondering about this - apparently, the readings are taken by the card reader machine when you pay and put money on the card - the rates can also be adjusted this way, too. wink1.gif

I was told that they take a physical reading to double-check against what the card says, and also presumably so that they can check for tampering etc..

this has got me thinkin, im with british gass dual fuel & they charge 2 rates for leccy,
24.367p per kwh on tier 1 & 10.91p per kwh on tier 2, the thing is tho, trying to find
any other info info on how the tiers work doh.gif
Scribb|e
It'll be where Tier1 is charged for the first, say, 100KW/h and then Tier2 for the rest. wink1.gif

thats true, they are actually legally obliged to get entry once a year. its also partly a safety check, if a faulty meter, or meter installation was to cause a fire or injury, they're liable, a regular check is meant to help avoid this. we used to go out with a locksmith and a pile of court orders, to do "must reads", where we couldnt get access previously. most turned out to be empty houses, though we did find a dead tenant once, all his bills were direct debit, no one noticed him missing.
