I am about to upgrade my lighting to the 400w Lumatek Digital system with super lumen switch.
The problem is i cannot decide which bulb to buy,all i know is that i want a duel spectrum bulb as i can't be bothered to keep changing from a metal halide to pure sodium bulb.
I have 2 choices in the duel spectrum, either the Sunmaster or Grolux.or i could get a Son-T bulb which is really a pure sodium and just use that for both vegging and flowering as i've read that some growers have had excellent results using just the Son-T bulb for both stages.

So which would you go for if you only wanted to use the one bulb? (i take it that i could use any of these bulbs with the super lumen switch if i wanted to?)
Thanks for any advice thumbsup.gif

I use Grolux but if you dont mind spending the extra use the sunmaster.

SON-T+ for the extra lumens anyway - even more with the Super Lumen switch. thumbsup.gif

Bet that's helped you make up your mind!

I use Sunmaster because someone at Greens recommended them.

So does the Sunmaster throw out more Lumens?,or is the light spectrum better?

That dual spec bulb throws a miniature amount off blue spectrum.Get Sunmaster deluxe or Son/t plus HPS u can flower and veg. with same hps bulb no problem, and if u want add some blue into your growroom get 250w or 400w sunmaster MH they are great make my canabis smell better.

Changing the bulb really isn't hard and she'll love you for it, I use MH & HPS for veg they both have their charms.

parabolic reflectors help with the light spectrum,

Tell you what does seem to throw out more lumens thats not been mentioned the Osram HPS's. Not dual spectrum but alot better for your plants in terms of intensity and lumens than a dual spec anyday, this is in my own personal experience, im sure alot of people would disagree. guitar.gif

And about the parabolic reflector they are the bollocks! Gives a completly even spread of light over your canopy, no dark spots so to speak. I have been using one for a while and I have never looked back! You can get the plants alot closer to the light and obviously the closer the light to the plant the more usable lumens avaliable, definetly worth checking out guitar.gif

Has anyone used these Sunmaster hps deluxe duel spectrum?
This is all the info i could find on them.

Advanced technology
Sunmaster Lamps are very similar to Grolux lamps in that they too have been specifically developed for indoor plant growing and are spectrum adjusted to perform well in both vegetative and flowering growth. They are a great option for anyone looking to experiment with different lamps as you may find that the exact spectrum offered by one lamp may suit your plants better than another.

I've never seen a Sunmaster dual spectrum. I use Sunmaster Super Hps, although i like the Son T plus just as much. Infact i ordered a son t and recieved a sunmaster this time ...bit naughty really!

Sorry,my bad.It is the Super HPS deluxe as you say.
They do contain a small amount of blue though so i suppose they are in a way.

I was going to get the Grolux but the growshop said the Lumatek ballasts can be a bit fussy with those bulbs (also metal halide bulbs) so i went for the Sunmaster HPS Deluxe bulb,Lumatek Digital 400w ballast,Euro reflector and Eazy rollers all in for the bargain price of £150.
I plan to use the 400w only for flowering with the super lumen switch on for the last 3 weeks. They veg under cfl's first and then go under a 250w duel spectrum for the rest of it.
I was wondering if anyone has used grolux or metal halide bulbs with their Lumatek digital ballasts before?
Just in case i decide to have a change in bulbs in the future. thumbsup.gif
The growshop reckons these ballasts perform at their best with pure sodium bulbs.

what make of 250w duel spectrum do you use? i've never seen a 250w 'dual spec' lamp, only 400w up

My 250w is the Plantastar dual spectrum,i think this is the only 250w dual spectrum you can get though.
I can't fault it,my 3 Lowryder#2's yeilded over 6 ounces dry from it! stoned.gif

After reading the instruction manual i now realise i can use metal halide bulbs if i wish but you should not use the Super lumen switch with these types.
So all i need to know is can i use a dual spectrum bulb with this digital ballast?,and would it be okay to use the super lumen switch with these?

I've used both Grolux and Sunmaster dual spectrum lamps and to be honest with you I can't tell the difference. From a technical perspective they both give out the same lumens as each other but I seem to remember reading somewhere the Sunmaster is tweaked to give out slightly more red and blue light than the Grolux.

E2A - Grolux & Sunmaster dual spectrum lamps are recommended for use with your super lumen switch thumbsup.gif

any hps will be fine with the boost switch, all mh lamps wont be ok

I got tempted by the cheap price of the growlux dual spectrums but i have not achieved very brilliant yields under these, im definitely reverting back to the trusty Osram Son-T-Plus, much better yields are achievable under these in my opinion.

I've just bought a 250w dual spectrum Sunmaster from Greens. I think they are very new. Advertised lumen output is 33000, which is the same as the 250w Son-T plus. Will see how it gets on.....
