Need to upgrade to some bigger cfl's soon and i was just wondering

Do i pay £60 for a 125w red and blue bulbs and a reflector
Or do i shell the extra £40 for 250w red and blue bulbs and reflector

What do you guys think i should do
Is it worth going for a 250w for the extra

And would i need to upgrade fans too
I have a 4" bathroom fan for exaust
and 6x pc fans for intake

but do consider a 250 hps if you've a bit of headroom .

like geepwr said, if you have some space consider buying a 250W HPS. It will give you much better result as it has much more penetration than 250W CFL You can find a set of reflector+bulb+ballast for about 70£ ish and you can use ur extra cfl for additional spectrum the HPS missing.

From what you mentioned you have plenty of extraction to take care of any heating issues.

I would say go with 250W HPS, and you#ll never look back on them CFLs.

well i will defo be looking at the 250w HPS

What about flowering and vegging? Can they be done under the same bulb because i know cfl's you need red and blue to flower and veg

I use 250 watt HPS from seedling to harvest - have done for about 14 years .. the few times I used fluorescent light for seedlings, I regretted it ... well not strictly true .. a lot of fluorescent light is OK-ish for the first couple of weeks - but no more.

Take a look at my grows and see if you think they lost out by being vegged under light far more red than any fluorescent.

I would suggest a couple of 20 watt CFLs to coax them out of the compost, then 9 inches from a 250 watt HPS ...

Fluorescents are ideal for rooting cuttings.

well i have 5x11w cfls atm

so i think i will still use them for clones and seedlings and then use my hps's for the proper growth
