Hi, just finished my led veg box, hope this little experiment works. Anyways here's the design : 2.5ft x 2ft cabnet covered with mylar, 2 x 15w mixed red/blue panels that I've had for a few years, each with 225 leds, 2 x 35w led 'downlights' 1 red 1 blue each with 600 leds....so thats 1650 red n blue leds at 100w hope it's enough unsure.gif

Here's a few pics to give you an idea (removed)

And here's my babies just poping up (removed) spliff.gif

That looks mad, never seen this done
Will be pulling up a chair, get the kettle on and i will get a fat one rolled to help us through these nights

Oo lovely idea, dont know much about led growing but great to see you got some babies on the run.

Fwiw, blue led's are the limiting factor in OLED and other deployments (lcd etc) when it comes to lifetime of hours etc. So have another board of led's on standby or some replacement leds... How easy is it to remove and add one for one? You've built a quality piece of kit!!

Yeh a few leds have gone on the panels I've have for years, need to dig out the soldering iron. The down lights are new, their garanteed for 20,000 hours I think smile.gif it's their design that interested me, 10m of cable with drop evey 5cm with 9 leds on they run quite warm tho, still waiting for me fan to turn up, they should be okay for a few days unsure.gif

they run quite warm tho,

yes - because they're less efficient than CFLs.

Here's the pictures again Click to view attachment and with me babies Click to view attachment

yeah they do run warm but I seriously doubt their warmer than 100W of cfl's.

CFl's are unfair example as they're self ballasted a seperate ballast CFL would produce far less heat (In the GR) than a normal socket one. The fair comparison would be put your 12v DC power supply in there with the LED's or buy remote ballasted CFL's and see how they do.

I do like that purple though, reminds of taking too many liberty caps in my youth.

Reminds me of butyl nitrate huffing and starring closely into a strobe light. wacko.gif

Since they are significantly less efficient than CFLs in terms of lumens of visible light per watt,
100 watts of LEDs will make more heat than 100 watts of CFLs. (do you really have 100 watts of LEDs ?)

The only argument LED fans use is that they produce more light in the spectrums plants can use.

It's been 12 days since I put the beans into compost, then into me expirimental led veg box. Got a fan intalled, seems to be keeping temps managable (bout 27C).

Here's some pics to show the progress

I'm guessing the size difference is due to the strain (4 diff strains there) ? they about the right size for the time ? unsure.gif

They look fine smile.gif
