Hi i am thinking about getting the best possible results out of my soil and nutes, so i think i have decided on my final products, please any advice will be most helpful as i am a noob still lol.gif and not very sure if im making the right decisions?

Well any way here is what i have decided on at the mo

SOILS:-
- BioBizz light mix for cutting/seedling
- BioBizz all mix for veg/flower

Nutes:-
- BioBizz Grow for early stages and vegging
- BioBizz Bloom (This one im not too sure as it says it is unusal in organic feeds??? but its an organic nute? WTH???)

Please if any one could advise if this is a ok/good/sweeeeet setup for soil and nutes or if it is a mistake would be fab, thanks guys

Are you commited to being as organic as possible? If so, try googling "Nature's Own Potting Compost". Allmix is by no means the ebst there is, but it is among the most expensive.
tingting44
hey arnold mate thanks for the quick reply, im not fussed at all on going organic but it just seems the best results down the line, so u would not point towards biobizz all mix then?
Arnold Layne
No mate. In a word, its crap. In comparison to others.
I gave it up years ago, and have stuck with a non-organic cheap compost. It is so much better. "J Arthur Bowyers with added John Innes".
But the "Natures Own" is also much, much better than Allmix
tingting44
thanks arnold i dont think i will be getting Biobizz all mix now, just looking at the Plagron bat mix, would u say that is a better choice then ^_^

Iv'e heard Plagron is the tits, never seen any in garden centres around where i live though.

me neither :-( i would have to order with a hefty postage charge :-(

Playgron is another expensive compost, imo much nicer than allmix. Although if you're gonna spend stupid money on compost then i'd say get the canna pro ones, easily the best compost from the growshops from what i've seen.

Or just save yourself a packet and get one from the garden centre smile.gif stoned.gif

I'd avoid all so-called "Cannabis specific" composts. They are just a sales pitch. They cost the earth to! I get a bag of the stuff I use for under a fiver. Allmix, Plagron etc all cost around three hundred percent over that. Complete and utter ripoff, as there is no such thing as a "cannabis specific" compost.
You're growing a hardy annual adapted for indoors. Cheap, decent potting compost is all you need. The rest is just burning money. I wouldn't buy BioBizz, Plagron, Canna or any of 'em.

That seems to be what most people who've grown in specialist cannabis and ordinary garden centre ones say.
tingting44
Right then arnold lol.gif what would be your choice then as i think i will prob head for the direction you point me in as u seem to know your stuff, so should i just go with normal bnq compost, or the bnq tomato grow bags which are cheap and packed with some nice nutes and of course some perlite to mix in for good drainage
Arnold Layne
As I said: "J Arthur Bowyers with added John Innes". Its what I've used for ages now, cheap as chips and easy to find at most garden centres.
I know zilch about B&Q compost.
But JAB+Ji is used by loads of folks here, not just me. It does what it says on the pack wink1.gif
tingting44
thanks arnold i will most prob go for J Arthur Bowyers with added John Innes which i have never heard of lol.gif hopefully they will have it at bnq or local garden centre to save on postage lol.gif how do u go about nutes with that soil then arnold

Hey mate, i was in your position about couple of months ago. What i did was to spark *quite* a few spliff wiv a nice cuppa and start reading..

I agree with Arnold as BioBizz/Plagron soils is way overpriced, same as most Canna specific products.. this industry is shite mate.
Westland & JAB being your best and cost effective from local garden centres. I tried westland+ and liked it, but can't comment on JAB, but i'm sure Arnold recommendation is worth alot.

If you got the £ to splash and fancy sticking to the organic route i would second Arnold's suggestions and give Nature's Own soils a go .Don't want to spam so a quick google will point you to the right direction.

IMVHO the way to go for organics is to keep a healthy microherd. i would add the following to create a happy & effective microherd:
* Worm castings - Trace elements & microherd = happy soil = 10£
* Seaweed meal - Same as above = happier soil = 10£
* Rootgrow - To increase root mass = bigger yeilds = 10£
* Coco-Coir - Better soil structure = 5£
* Mollases / Treacle - To feed the microherd = 2£

* Bat guano - High P For heavy flowering
High N For vegging
* Rockdust - Trace elements

If you fancy keeping it simple for the first time, which will be very wise, i will stick with the first five and then move on to the rest. The list is just endless...

One final suggestion: Mix your soil at 1/3-1/2 strength as recommended on the products, as you can always add nutes to a weak soil oppose to soil which will burn ur plants cuz of too much nutes. Water, stir, and let it 'cook' (let the microherd do their job) for about 2-3 weeks in warmish temps.
This way most elements/nutes/goodies will be available for the plant straight away as the microherd already did their job.

Use OT1 feeding schedule with BioBizz Grow&Bloom (it is on here somewhere but i'm too blazed to check now.. sorry mate spliff.gif )

All can be sourced quite easily and they are not canna specific so won't burn a hole in your wallet. Google to source and search/reading in the Organic/Non-Organic Section will help alot

Good luck mate, you are going to love this hobby

I just watch my plants fella. If they look hungry I feed them, it usually starts about 3 or 4 weeks into 12/12. I used to use BioBizz, but have switched to Plant Magic, and am finding my way with that. In my current grow I am follwoing their schedule pretty much to the letter. I started feeding at the start of week 3 of 12/12
You can see the results in my diary, click the (Plant Magic) link in my sig if you want to, its the one at the top of the list wink1.gif

Thanks bom a lot of helpful options there, my head is going to explode lol.gif cheers tho bro!!!!

Thanks Arnold at the mo i am just testing out with a lemon plant it grew outside untill it started flowering by itself in the 5th week so stuck it inside when i got my tent for 12/12 i have been feeding it with tomato feed every 7-10 days and it seems to be doing well but this is my 1st plant so what do i know lol.gif is tomato feed ok for nutes as i dont seem to see a lot of people that use it?

EDIT:
i might go with westlands + actually instead of jab as i remember seeing that last week down bnq smile.gif
