Hi can anyone tell me how much dolomite lime to add to my westlands MP+JI to help keep my composts ph around the ph7 mark? im using large pots and would like to know the amount needed per litre. thanx.
Stixman
the compost will be already ph adjusted to around 7 thumbsup.gif

Hi Stixman after doing a little googling the ph of westland MP+JI is around 5.5 to 6.0 now i know that might be ok but it could be better e.g. 7ish. I assume the microherd and humus in the compost allow for a swing and help auto ph adjust but i grow in-organically so my microherd is either dead or partially alive and thus its effectiveness is hampered.

Thats why i wanted to use some lime to help buffer things closer to 7 but dont know the mixing ratio's. this will be a test grow against my old methods of growing which involves no PH'ing at all.

so anyone got the mixing ratio's for me or am i cool with 1table spoon per gallon? also how should i apply it do i just fill my pot with dirt then add the lime to the surface and mix in? thanx

Have a read through this.. Dolomite Lime.

when I get a chance I'll go through my compost mix receipe and let you know how much I use. It's not a lot (especially per litre) and I use very finely powdered dolomite from a source here in the states.
