Hi all.

Anyone know how I put full length videos onto an iphone?
Thanks

You have to download from the net. You can do it easily from the apple store (itunes) or less easily from other sites that sell this service. There is probably a hack to share files but we're not supposed to talk about that kind of stuff here.

If you have itunes (on a computer) you may be able to encode a movie so that it will play on an iphone but idk.

I know I need a video converter to get to mpeg4.
I was just wondering what converter is free and easy to use.

I'm not asking about video piracy.

And after converting a vid, is it as simple as synching the iphone?

I'd prefer a reliable free version if there is such a thing.

Do you have an iphone Diggle17? Whatcha think of it?

No.

From the computer forum (I think this should be in the forum rules page as well but...)

You can 'jailbreak' your iPhone at no risk and get root on it - this allows you to do loads of things with it that Apple have locked out. thumbsup.gif

The iPhone plays .m4v, .mp4, and .mov video and supports H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second - there are loads of converters available - one of the best free ones is Handbrake.

Scribble and Chilli, thanks very much for the help. wink.gif

Do you like the iphone Scribble? (just wondering from the techie point of view).
tbh I havent jailbroken the iphone cause I just figured that there would be probs down the line and couldnt face voiding the warranty etc.

Any recommended apps? tips and tricks?

I've never owned one, but have played around with a friend's and helped jailbreak it etc..

I prefer my mobiles simple really - it's nice to play with all the built-in toys for an hour or so when you first get one, but after the novelty wears off, I find that I want just a phone with a decent battery life - I've currently got a hand-me-down RAZR v3 which I quite like, actually. wink1.gif

If I was going to daydream about having a 'techy' phone, I would probably be thinking about getting one of the new ones that run Linux like one of Nokia's 'Maemo' ones, or possibly one of the 'Android' phones - I don't rate the ones that are out now much, but I think that later models have a really good chance of being pretty awesome. thumbsup.gif

You can't void your warranty by jailbreaking your iPhone, BTW - if you needed to return one for any reason, or get one fixed/serviced, then you'd just return it to it's factory state. wink1.gif

RAZR v3

Me too, had mine for years and the battery still works geat. Ive been looking at new phones but nothing really jumps out at me.

I think they're really good phones - I never liked the idea of 'flip' phones, as they always seemed to be weak and prone to failure, but mine is solid as it was new and the battery life is still excellent with it's original battery, and it was third-hand and well-used when I got it. wink1.gif

I've dabbled with videoing and editing over the years ago. I used a free program called "Super". Converted most, if not all different formats of film and audio that I recorded.
Hope it helps

You should try 'Handbrake' - it's free and really good - it's basically a GUI that wraps around the ffmpeg and mencoder CLI programs. thumbsup.gif
