Hi All

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on anywhere to park when I and a few friends go to Amsterdam in a couple of weeks.

Driving via France and Belgium was thinking about parking just outside and getting a train in - not sure of any safe and secure places though.

Anyone got any tips or even if I should venture into the dam and get some parking - on the way there should be ok not sure about driving around on the way back after a heavy couple of days!

cool I presume it goes to grand central then? Are the metro regular?

Yes every 15mins or so really easy and takes right to central station if i remember i think it cost me £20 for the car and about £4 on train not sure but it was very cheap 916

i did this recently with my bike, i stayed in a hotel near sloterdijk & used the train
to get into amsterdam central, it only takes 6 mins & a return ticket was 3.60 euros.

just be careful where you park tho, some of the street parking bays were 12 euros a day.

forgot to say, if your trtavelling from calais,
its easy to get to the motorway but just remember to drive on the right tho
& watch your speeds, the cops can hammer you heavily with on the spot fines,
think if your caught doing upto 20 kmp over the limit its 75 Euros, up to 40 kmp over
the limit its 750 Euros, & if your caught doing more than this then they can confiscate
your vehicle

after passing antwerp, look for the E19/A1 to Breda & dont make the mistake i did by
heading for Bergen op zoom A12, you have to pay a toll on this road.

I normally use schipol airport as well, although I have used the underground car parks around amsterdam but they can work out quite expensive and if your a bit messy after a few days indulging, it can be tricky dealing with the traffic getting out of the dam.

I usually go to the stadium. It costs 6€ per day and they also give you a free metro ticket. In others they give a bicycle. Also they give up to 6 tickets if you are travelling with your family or company.
Just remember to take back the used metro ticket when you go back to pay. Otherwise the offer does not apply and you will pay 12.50 for the stay.
They do this so that the city does not get full of cars.
It is convinient if you plan to stay for up a week. Otherwise, better the train.

When You arrive in amsterdam, remember to get the multizone ticket if You expect to use the public transport . You can get them in the stands inside the metro central station or the news agency.
Normal 1 hr ticket are simply ridicoulousy expensive and they only give you those on metro and atms.
IF, and only IF, the multizone ticket is not available, think of buying an automatic card. Similar to the oyster card in london. It costs 3 or 5 e so check if it is a deal for You.

Given this, think about renting a bike. Weather wise, is the best way to live the city.

Criminal levels in amsterdam are very low. i think ti's one of the lowest in europe and the parkings are usually guarded. Given that you should be fine. Of course bad luck can strike anyone.

Sweet! been a few times and last time I drove a few years ago parked near the stadium but it was a trek and when its your first time in the city its a bit tricky. Only going for a couple of days so might get to the airport and go from there on the metro

Re the speeding - driven a few times in france and you do have to be careful - any idea of the sort of time it takes to get to the dam from Calais? says about 4 hours on me sat nav

Dude, the parking stadium is underneath the stadium itself and on top if it there is this huge metro/train station. Only six metro stops from central station It's a new structure
Shilpol instead it is not metro but train....however there should be a train every 20 min and it's, again, ten minutes. Check if at shilpol airport if they have got the offer with the train tickets or whatever :)Maybe You can pay less for the parking wich equals...more bud ;)

I drove over to the Dam in mid August mate and it was great. The best place to park is either the park and ride under Ajax stadium or the one near the bottom of vondel park, Think it was Olympisch Stadium.

You can only park there for 4 days at a time but nothing to stop you driving out and back in again to get a new ticket. Only costs 6euro a day too You get a free Metro ticket although from the Olympisch Stadium me and the gf walked to our hotel (ledidsestraat) in about 25 minutes. Was a really nice walk as well. Perfect amount of time for a joint before we got to the hotel.

We parked at Ajax first as we had been driving a long time and it was easy to find. I would advise the olympisch one though

When i go i stay in the RHO, its right in the center and has a underground carpark, i think they charged about 12 euros a day for parking. its a bit tricky to find, so will need satnav.

Sorry to bother but can you try to be more specific because all the parkings that I have seen near the center are expensive and 12€ is something I could afford

It was 40E for 24 hours this time last year

We drop the car off at the Amsterdam Arena in the massive car park and then get the metro in (about 15 minutes, near Utrecht I think....no biggie). Not expensive to leave the car for a couple of days, secure and easy.

We parked in RHO hotel it has garage ,our crashed peugot 206 next to Ferrari and AMG

It was round 20e for a day me thinks but it was practic as we had exces to car non stop.Mate parked out off center as he didnt want to get ripped off but waking up in 6 in the morning to extend the parking was priceless

Do this. They are caled "Park and Rides" and it's like 6EURO a day and you get a public transport ticket.

Fuck driving/parking around amsterdam unless you don't mind paying $30-50/euros a day.

bu a 2nd hand satnav from ebay, it'll be cheaper than a week's parking!

When i went a few weeks back I ended up parking at the airport - easy to get to and it was 50 euros for 3 days parking which I thought was ok. Then a train from the airport which was about 4 euros each way.


Easy and not too expensive but you can find cheaper i would have thought

Just a thought, is it worth the risk of gettin caught, bringing a few grams of isolator,no more than 100, if i was driving the whole distance from the dam?

When me and 2 others went in my car. I reconed as we were in a nice lookin car we wouldn't be bothered but we got searched by the french pigs and then again by the british twats. They saw us drive out of the french customs garage and then they waved us in their end? What fucking knobs.

The guy was giving us some bullshit about, if you confess now we will take it easy, if you don't and we find "somsing" we will "av to tek de car" fucking knob. Good luck with that one. Anyway had like 30 empty baggies they found and loads of rizlas and lighters. They waving em at us like it's some amazing find.

They looked like they were looking hard but really they werent. For example I had a tent in the boot, one of them fold up ones, they unzipped, had a quick peek and then left it. Coulda put an ounce in one of the pockets hehe

And then one of em spent no jokes about 5 minutes shining a light into a liter of engine oil that I had in the boot as if he's gonna notice something inside hahahaha. I recon that's a good place to put it, unless they are willing to pour the whole lot out they ain't ever gonna see a little package inside there, as long as it's not knocking about inside.

OH and even better, if you are careful you can usually remove the lid of a plastic bottle without breaking the seal, so buy a new bottle of oil, carefuly pry the top off, stick the weed inside, the guy comes to open it and it's fresh lid, he's prob gonna leave it alone.

Anyway I ain't no trafficker, never saw the point for a few grams and I'm not desperate enough to try it on larger ammounts. not worth the aggro.

If you're growing your own at home why bother bringing back? I can understand bringing back in the old days, when it wasn't stupidly expensive and you could actually score semi decent dealer weed - but these days, when most of us are growing our own? It's just not worth it imo - both financially and risk-wise....and if you are going to bring back a bit of special hash, make it a little bit.... 100g isn't a little bit....5-10g is

In at least 3 coffee shops I was offered a triple vacume sealed pack of whatever I wanted.... jokers trying to get me to take it home. Not worth the aggro.

is it worth it ?average price earlier this week was 10e a gram for normal hash,the best-cheapest isolator was 25e a gram so 4 ounces comes in at between £1-£2.5k
