Finally decided to grow some balls and head out to the dam
Always dreamed of going there
Looking at going 17th of feb till the 19th or 20th
Can anyone tell me where to get cheap ferry tickets from
Not taking the car, dont really like the idea of having the car on the road while its full of stoners
Just me and the missus
And any info on hotels, cafe's ect would be really helpfull
Just looking at a cheap getaway so nothing to expensive
Cheers in advance

probably cant post the link on here, but there is another forum, at channels.nl, worth reading. ferries depends on where you are really, if you're near newcastle, hull or the south east you're ok, if not maybe easyjet is a better option. i usually book hotels on hotels.nl, not had any problems there.

Amsterdam ain't cheap for hotels. And the hostels are not the place to go with your ladyfriend imo. If you want somewhere cheap (and your missus is up for it) I'd go to the Zeeburg campsite (wibbly dot campingzeeburg dot en el) and stay in one of their cabins or 'wagonettes' (of course you could always take a tent and actually camp). It's very close to the city centre has a good atmosphere and properly smoking friendly, which a lot of the hostels/hotels are not.
If you've got a bit more money me and the missus have always enjoyed the hotel arena over by the Oosterpark, used to be very weed tolerant, but I haven't been there since the smoking ban. It's a short walk to het Ballonetje (a good locals coffeeshop) and a 10-15 min tramride into town).
The other option I've done more of recently is to get an apartment as it usually works out cheaper, and although they often say 'no smoking/drugs' in reality you can get away with it as long as you don't spend the whole holiday sitting inside caning it (no chambermaids to worry about etc). The benefit is that you have self catering facilities, generally a much higher standard of accommodation for the money, your own living room, the privacy of being in a private residence and they're often located in much nicer parts of the city than the hotels.
The last one I stayed in was on Rokin which is like being on Oxford Street in London, this was what we wanted as I was there for 2 nights only on my little brother's first visit so we wanted to be as central as possible. The last time I was there with the missus however we had a place in the Jordaan, which is a really lovely residential area just outside the city centre. For apartments I'd recommend stayamsterdam (not amsterdamstay although they may be perfectly good, just never used them) or amsterdamlocations. They seem to be the same company to all intents and purposes (same office) but the latter offer 2 night stays in the same apartment whereas the former does minimum three nights (go figure).

dfds are doing a 2 for 1 deal at the moment, not sure of any of the details, but they might be a bit far away for you, if you're in london. cheapest option i have tried in the past from london was the eurolines bus/ferry, liverpool st to dover to ostend.

i think newcastle would be better from where i am
but london is the only one that i have seen that is cheap
newcastle to the dam is about 200 per person

easyjet from liverpool any better? usually the cheapest option is bus and ferry, but sometimes a flight is going to be cheaper, if you book early.

What are the travel arrangements/times to and from the city like from there OG? Particularly later on? Not been myself. I believe Lucky Lake (luckylake.nl) which is also stoner/tripper friendly is higher rated on the hostel sites (one of the highest rated and cheapest amongst all). They have caravans and chalets. I worked there a while ago. That's 30 mins out the city, but there's a shuttle at the hostel to go to the station. Runs each half hour till 1 am. For a short stay like this I think either place would blow. Makes you wish you had longer to soak up both the city and your chill zone. But yeah there's certainly more privacy so better suited to couples. And cheap.
edit; bit more detail on accom

Cant really find any cheap flights, the cheapest way i have seen is £88 per person for a ferry over
Thats over night so you sleep on the ferry, or get baked all night
But that takes me to the center included in the £88
And back out to get back to london
Need to do some more research on a place to stay
Might see if its cheaper and nicer to stay out the centeral city and travel in each day

The accomodation with an element of privacy
is cheaper outside the city but the travel is where it
can get more expensive to the extent you might as well have got city accom. I have researched this for you as I explained it to thousands of dam noobs. If you get a roll of strippenkarts you're good to go on buses and metro cheaper than buying singles/returns each time. Need to figure out how many zones you will travel through from accomodation outside the city, ask the hostel for such info. Things like that can make it cheaper. There's also 24/72 hour passes too so you don't have to fuss with stamping them.
