Has anyone eveer harvested peat from your local forest or wherever you might find it in your area?
I have goodles of it all over the mountain cliffs around here where we off road and dirt bike. I could easily gather up a bag or two, take it home and dry it out to use it in both compost or mix with other soil....
What do ya think? good? bad?

Moss is good for water retention and structure in compost recipes/mixes but I would not use wild moss/peat in any indoor grow and run the risk of bringing pests and diseases into my g/r.

Good point GG.
I would probably add it to my compost and to my garden. Nothing indoors.
Most if not all the moss I can get is growing on sand from sandstone. Not sure if this means anything or not...
