Hello,

This 136g of trim had been bubbled last week then dried out again, I did two runs using three cans of butane for each.

Both runs where in the flask for a timed two minute soak, Then poured into the dish through two coffee filters.

The dish was then put in sink which had been filled with hot tap water, to speed up evaporation process.

Scraped onto a new blade then put into the freezer for now.

do you think that usin this method(or the coffee pot) is more efficient(ie more oil per gram of plant material), than using a 'honeybee'?
i think maybe yes , but have never used your method or the pot.
The reason i ask is because in the coffee pot or in your flask , the solvent is in with the material for longer , maybe extracting more goodness- your oil seems darker,
but is that because of repeated running.

also how do you dry out bubbled trim? especially that much?

I have a Honeybee but i didn't get really like it TBH i wanted to try longer butane extractions like 15-30 minutes,

The longer extraction didn't really give more yield so i have gone back to two minutes.

It's abit dark cause i dropped a tiny cap full of ISO to into the dish to help scrap it up .

Aww man i hate drying trim fresh or bubbled but i have got one of them drying racks so i just spread abit out on each shelf.

Stinks like when drying but hey ho , I was going to do another bubble run but then thought bugger it BHO .

Lovely MrM I will be doing my first batch of Bho end of this month for me bday .. will be giving a run of dry sift first , to make a jelly mix.. ummm my mouths watering just thinking of it. Although i've only got about an oz of prime trim. I will be using the flask.. I like the lil tip of waiting 2 mins, i think ive read gunnaknow has left his extract for a hour

Wow an hour longest i've left it was half an hour and like i said i noticed no differnce in yield or strength,

I think maybe even two minutes is a tad long really but i would be gutted if i was missing out on something .

Yea i've got a few grams of space case kief i'm going to add to it once i purged it a few times.

Na never shook it all might give that ago next time.

I've had some success with the bubble hash but hav'nt got round to a propper attempt at oil yet.

Yes, I've done an hour or more with butane before. I don't recommend doing it unless you've already done a quick wash for the top grade oil first. The quick wash will get pretty much all of the goodness out of the trichomes, although I've smoked kiff that still got me slightly high after it had been extracted. The long wash is really a secondary process to get any remnants that might still be in the trichomes and to extract the traces of cannabinoids that are within the plant tissues themselves. It takes time for the butane to penentrate all of the plant cells. The difference will be small but it adds up to something more substantial over the months.

Nice job by the way, MrM. It's good to see another member embracing the thermos technique. In hindsight I should have patented the idea and sold the rights.

A butane run after bubbling your trim is great way to get all the goodness IMO,

Jelly hash is the bees knees , strong and easy to handle better than bubble I reckon.

At least I can always get a full melt with jelly hash .

Yea I got a Honeybee it's okay I just found it easier in a flask and you can let it sit in the butane with a flask.

While It just runs straight through the Honeybee, but i did get some lovely oil from it so yea they are cool.

I love the flask way it easy,clean, quick and I can get alot of trim done in a short space of time ,

Very nice Tiger oil MrM...i did a run the other week and my god it was a bloddy mission to scrape the oil up, where you get the ISO from...or could you use nail polish remover...

Leave the nail polish remover well alone!You can get ISO from Maplins I think its a tenner for a litre.....

Nail polish remover is okay but only if it is pure acetone. If it contains anything else then it shouldn't be used. Pure acetone is okay to use and has a similar toxicity level to ISO. Infact, ISO is converted to acetone in the liver, which is why their LD50 is almost exactly the same. It's best to check with the manufacturer that the 0.1% or so impurities in ISO or acetone are water and not something else.

I think Mr Mullen could end up Mr Mullered after smoking some of that .

Good to see that you had bubbled it first, just goes to show what can be had from the remains after the bubble run.

So after a couple days purging the oil and trying to get the last butane out, by warming to room temp it then re-freezing it,

I mixed it with my spacecase keif to make some smooth jelly hash ...



Also a quick pic of my Scuffbox hash i made the other day...



And finally a pic of both with some QWISO jelly hash, alot darker and with more body to the stone ...



All of these hashish where made with trim i once used to throw away (pre420).

..I actually couldnt wait to make mine after seeing yours, and if i didnt i knew it would of went into drysift cause of my impatience- so i made some today

I used the flask method, and shaked for about 5mins.. I used 25g of trim and came out with 1.2g of lovely golden oil (at first..) I was suprized at how much Bho extracted. It was a flipping pain scraping it up though ..i didnt like that, didnt have no iso sadly. I heard its also good to pour it on top of water, as oil floats- so will be doing that next time.

After i had collected the most i could get i started to mix it around with a blade, it started to get darker and thicker, although if you touch it straight away melts. In the end i put it in the freezer for about 5hrs, and then took it out and left it to melt down.. which it didnt although if you touch it it melts instantly, hit it by the flame, it bubbles.

Anyways with the left over i didnt scrape up, i covered a couple skins.. smoked then with couple mates today- it was so very impressive- mad mad mad high! and so tastey..! Cant wait to try the rest after couple more purges ..Made a lil jelly to give me couple pipes until the oil awaits

QWISO = Quick wash isopropanol all it is another extraction method, You can get it off fleebay for under a fiver a litre in P&P.

It's also really good for cleaning sticky things with Bongs,pipes & grinders but it does take alot longer to evaporate.

Have you seen Judds QWISO run?, So to make jelly hash (ISO or BHO) just add keif to your oil and voila.

The scuffbox is just a trich tumbler for your trim i got it from fleebay.

as for making jelly hash - is it possible to do that with the qwiso?? as in just adding your kief you will end up with jelly hash, i.e less runny and messy than the oil. its just that i have only really read or seen it be mentioned with bho and i'v never done that. YET!!!

although looking through this thread has inspired me to try out my next lot of trim with a butane run, especially as i happen to have a thermos flask in the cupboard gathering dust - be aswell to put it to use

Man if you love QWISO your gonna BHO , yea just add your kief and boom jelly hash dude.

Yea the handle ability is the only real reason I add my kief to the oils.

I love playing around with my gear and misses hate me using the bloody freezer .

Jelly hash is best of both world IMO

couple of questions for you though if you dont mind...


1. i have still to modify the flask - the 3 holes on the lid, i read that the central/main hole is to be 5.5mm(?) for the gas tip to fit and the other 2 are there just to relieve the pressure but doesn't the butane escape from these two holes??

2. i'm not sure what to do with the middle part of the flask, will the can of butane's tip press into the open close part meant for pouring tea or whatever or do i just disregard this part altogether and the butane will run straight through to the flask itself??

Hello mate,

Most butane comes with adaptors so make the hole about 4-6mm and it will be fine,

Yea gas does leak out abit from the holes but I think you drill them otherwise the pressure will build too much,

Three cans of butane will fill it up about half way.

Don't use the plastic middle bit I still got mine but it don't do nothing when making the BHO.
