i know john innes is not organic but will it still be able to support a micro herd. And is it worth feeding with organic nutes in the floral stage or is this gonna work against me. Any ideas will be taken on board.

The only reason JI 2 is considered 'non-organic' is because it has a chemical fertiliser added to it, the presence of which will only very slightly inhibit the initial formation of a micro herd for the first few days - after that the loam will provide a good home for them. smile.gif

Feed organic all the way mate. smile.gif

i made the mix of 2 parts peat based compost (shamrock multi purpose compost from focus) 1 part john innes no2 from levingtons 1/2-1 part perlite all is good. I have been feeding miracle grow organic choice (fruit and veg) at 1/4-1/2 the stated dose per 5ltr water with an air stone 24hrs. after 3 weeks in the soil mix! now i have switched to using 1/4 dose for miracle grow and 5 spoons of vintage bat guano per 5ltrs water with an air stone for 24 hrs. how long do ya think this reg should go on for 1 or2 weeks and anyone think i should p.k 13-14 bat the end.

Nice brew.. smile.gif

Yes, it should provide/ feed the neccesary bacteria, but be aware that pond water can sometimes contain harmful pathogens to seedlings- don't use it for plants less than two weeks old or they may well collapse.. smile.gif

You will probably need to introduce the correct beneficial mycorrhizal fungi yourself if you want the best results, as the liquid will probably not contain these - you could innoculate them with good loam and leaf mould, but you run the risk of introducing soil borne disease. Use rootgrow granules or Plantmagic stuff or whatever.
