Hi, wondering if anyone knows about this.

A few days ago, my pc locked up (desktop visible, but mouse locked) had to pull the plug out to switch it off.

I got back into the system(desktop), but it locked up again after a few mins.

Kept trying, pc booted up (ie fans turning etc) but this time there was 'no signal' on monitor.

So I tested everything on another computer...

The videocard worked fine.
The memory was fine.

No lockups on the other PC.

So I put everything back into the original pc, but I put the videocard in the secondary PCI-E and it worked fine.
Put it back into the primary x16, no signal again.

So obviously a mobo problem yes? It's been running fine for a few days in the secondary x16 port... I hoped to run 2 nvidia 7900's, but there goes that rofl.gif

Cheers

Sounds like your pcie-16x slot is on it's way out or completely screwed i know it sounds daft but if you have an ir duster spray put some in there and bloom any fluff out (obviously while turned off) as for running to 7900 cards well that would just be a waste of power on your psu as the speed difference with cards that out of date would be negligible.

Instead go buy a single 9600gt or such like 60+ quid and it alone would be 3-4x faster than what your running now.

Having said that if your pci-e 16x sliot is knackered then all you can do really is get a new mb and forget about those old video cards as well.

reset your bios setting back to default, if you haven't already ..save n reboot see if the prob is still there

also check for any red or amber led's next to the slot ..you can dl the pdf manual for your mobo and check what the lights mean

Yes, that is a valid point djay, I'll probably wouldn't of run 2 cards, as you say, best to run a good1.

Probably knackered aint it g.gif Not a bad board either, only had it for 2 years. Nothing overclocked... Though massive uptime on it rofl.gif

I'll just hope it will last another 2 yrs in that 2nd slot, will be happy with that.
Cheers
