So my last grow I had a big case of spider mites.

Now everything is cut and dried and I've cleaned out the box.

I had intended to use some Pyrethum smoke bombs but my order is delayed and it could be a while before I get them.

So my question really is how long do the things last on their own, and whether I should risk it by germinating my seeds now and start them going in the box?

It's been a week since the plant was cut and dried.

Otherwise I could germinate and plant them in my room underneath a CFL desk lamp until I can properly fumigate the grow box.

What you recon?

sorry to piss you of mate but i had to shut my hole grow down in the 90's due to fuckin spider mite cunts! once there in ya pad your pritty fucked.
I put getting spider mites as the same as having your grow nicked on its last day drying! I would cry if i ever got them cunts agen. And would never take cuttings from a third party.
Good luck ya gonna need it!

You can get rid of them successfully mate, I have. Why your grow room is now empty and thoroughly and I mean thoroughly sterilised keep the temps as low as possible, the colder the better and keep it dark for 2 weeks, make sure all plants going back in there have also been thoroughly treated with scotts bug clear and horticultural soap, but if you don't keep stock plants it should be o.k, but you do have these pesticides I would mist the whole empty grow room as an added measure and that is all I did, never seen them since, about 2 years ago now.

Keeping the temps down as low as possible will slow/stop them producing, they breed and multiply quickly so if you can keep the room as cold as possible for 2 weeks it will kill the adults quickly and any eggs that hatch will also die quickly and by the 2 weeks is up they will all be dead, because there has also been no food source for them either. After 2 weeks, the longer the better, but then give it a real good hovering to suck up any eggs that might be left around and hopefully mate after doing this you will be sm free, good luck.

When you start your next grow, keep the plants well but not over watered to keep the r/h up to 75% in veg and 45% in flower and try to keep the temps down to 70*F if possible, s/mites do not like these conditions, they like it hot and dry to flourish.

Keep conditions like this and hopefully you have seen the last of them.

Cheers Green Gobbler.

Bit late on keeping it cold and dark though... just installed my new HPS and i've been running it to gauge my temperatures.

I've clearned/hoovered the box. I don't keep plant stock and it's been a week since any plants were in there. Gonna germinate my seeds and keep them in my bedroom under a CFL until they've gotten sufficiently big. Hopefully by then my fumigator bombs will have turned up and I'll gas the whole room/box everything before I put the plants in there. Fingers crossed.

This all comes down to me bringing a plant from outside inside on my first grow. Then back2backed my second grow and what a surprise that got bombed too.. Hoping this time around I'll get rid of em smile.gif
