my friend is using my wilma system what i gave,we have a ph of around 1.0/1.1 and PH around 5.7 (even though the PH is jumping up alot) on plants what are rooting out of the big rockwool cubes and are now in clay pebbles in the system.

but for some reason the plants are going brown and yellow,i cant work out if they are being under fed or over fed?????

A cf of 1.0 - 1.1 is quite low. You want to be aiming for around 1.5. If your ph is jumping around all over the place it could be to do with nutrient temperatures as the solution will hold different amounts in suspension at different temps. Optimum temp is about 22 degrees.

Another thought occurs to me - did you presoak your rockwool blocks before putting them in? The rockwool blocks are quite alkaline and in an active system can leach some of of that back into your nutrients. Its best to soak rockwool for 24 hours in ph balanced water before use.

As a first step, I would flush your system for 24 hours with ph'd water (5.5 - 5.9) and then make up your nutes again, to a cf of 1.4, ph 5.5 and monitor the situation. You should see them perk up in a day or two. If that does not help, then maybe you need to look for other sources of your problem

but the plants arent very big still, dont want to over feed them with too much nutes
OeN
EC is plant / pheno dependant....1.4 for some would seem like a chemical attack to them whilst others may well feel constantly hungry.... wink.gif

What size and how old they from cutting .....unsure.gif

If less than 1 month from cut and still vegging then i would be aiming for an EC of 0.5 - 0.6 + background EC, again it all depends on your strain... but if signs of hunger appear you up it without any major problems... where as over ferting causes worse damage and longer to recover... pinch.gif

you got any pictures.... unsure.gif

OeN is right - if they are still youngsters then they won't need anywhere near the full strength nutes - I was assuming that you were on about full grown plants.

Run them on ph'd water for a few days and see if they start to perk up, maybe supplemented with a mild foliar feed (1/4 strength formulex, couple drops of wetting agent and a bit of nitrozyme) and see how they go
