About 20 years ago i used to smoke resins like gold seal,red seal,xxx rocky,00 rocky none of that soap shit thou,,,but i used to get also some brickweed dunno its real name but it came squashed in a brick full of sticks and seeds,,sounds shit compared to todays green but the stuff was a good smoke and it got ya stoned,,,skunk was un heard of back then so this was the weed of that era.

it has a strong woody cigar like smell and taste,and i got some the other day and its the real stuff,,,oldskool,,,,and true to form it was full of seed i got 35 good seed from it,,i used to just smoke them back then and they used to explode.

now im gunna grow some because ive never had it unseeded bud and seeing its a good smoke can only be better fresh.

has anyone grown this before?? is it indica or sativa??

i think its jamaican landrace so dunno how it will be indoor but gunna give it ago.

Had something very similar a few months back - i was rather surprised when i found out the source was a rather large polly tunnel somewhere in europe around belgium or thereabouts.

Looked just like the old thai brick stuff from pre skunk days - didnt smoke as nicely but my tolerance in those days was only a tiny fraction of its current level.

There some nice juicy seeds, gonna sprout an interesting plant i reckon...Let us know how it grows...

i remember buying that from future coffeeshop in amsterdam, along with some lovely nepalese black, way back before the days of skunk. lovely

A friend of mine grew a seed from some about 12 years ago, put in a huge pot and grew under two 400w hps to a fair size and flowered for five weeks. Not a single pistil or pollen sack emerged. It was completely asexual. I've never seen anything like it before or since.

i know what ya on about, got the same stuff!! proper old school, feeling very nostalgic.

I had some earlier this year Looks like Sativa to me.

About 15 years ago we used to get some very similar looking stuff, although it was called african bush. Was the only thing we could get apart from slate & black. I actually grew one of the seeds out as my first ever grow, it was very lanky iirc.

We used to call it African bush as well. It was an alright smoke once you'd taken the twigs and seeds out. Probably the first bud I smoked.

you guys sure (sorry)but I got what I thought was good jamaican only to be told be my good jamaican friend that it was thai , not as many seeds as in the pic ,

Double Zero, Slate, Pollen, Paki Black ahhhh, ....I haven't smoked any black for a decade? Saying that aven't smoked any hash bar my home made Haze hash and some BubblePucks.

Jamaican Sugar is a very nice strain, very very sweet taste, funny that.

I got some really seedy dank brown weed in Fiji, scored within 2mins of leaving the airport in the taxi

It looked average at best, smoked well though and the high? High, well, mong was something else.

It was so heavy you couldn't even be arsed to turn over to avoid sunburn, on the pacific islands that is the BEST shit you can get....heavier the better, makes lazing about so much less guilty

The Fiji Weed reminded me of the old seedy brown brickweed we used to get, but it was MUCH stronger.

Ah the memories.

I used to get that stuff along with one we named mint chocy chip as thats exactly what it smelled like, was bloody amazing smoke too with no seeds in it, and was really well cured rock hard pressed buds...

i can imagine some old rastas in jamaica growing this year in year out,,thats why i call it jamaican but it could be from thai

one thing im pretty sure of is that you cant buy these seed from any company....closest ive seen is the real seed company strains,,hopefully namkha will know where the origins come from.

if i can get em to germ i will do a seed run of em,just too keep the genes going.

You ortta head down south, there has been alot of those around recently. Also came across what I was told was Jamaican blockweed sprayed in rum, smoked ok nothing special, probably better before the rum. seen two types of Thai one light green and lemony and the other darker and chocolatey, both nice.

we used to smoke that ,redbeard and african bush,nice bud ,after de twiging it and seeding , i to have been told its a thai ? but i have grown sum of my seeds out and they look like a sat dom strain defo.and you get 2 pheno,s the lemony one and the chocolate 1. like to get sum nowadays but no go

I have proper Jammy mother from some NepJam.. shes done in 9weeks- smoke is very relaxed and but up up up- a lil bit a body hit after 30-40mins. Taste is very much like brick weed but the high kicks the ass's any brick weed i've picked up. I actually could only get Thai/Jam brick weed(who knows) for about a month.. i was sick of the taste. I do love it but i just hate to over do it with the bricky.

Yea as someone else mentioned they could be put into flowering for 10-12 weeks and just about be showing sex.. or not at all.

Has that got any cotton running through it? My first grow was with seeds from that old school smoke. We used to call it thai, jamaican, african bush weed . Allsorts.

I'm pretty sure every seed has potential. The seeds however arn't from a stable background so will need alot of care. The plant I grew stank but couldn't finish outdoors in our climate And had to be chopped a wee bit early due to mould. If i could go back and finish that plant indoors it would be great I would love to have smoked a properly mature finished product, to compare between the dark seedy 'bush weed' and what it could actually be!

always alot of that shit going around down south! every week or two someone will have that african bushweed here and always surfaces in large qauntities during dry spells for good weed. i only live in a small town so its surprising that we seem to get a hell of alot of it. but its not worth smoking unless theres nothing about as imo its crap and tastes earthy. my mate got a half oz for £40 couple months back and he was still pissed when he was smoking it . it gives you a light buzz that just makes you want to skin a next one up straight after. does anyone remember this weed that was purple in apperance looked alot like outdoor african bushweed. about 4years ago this stuff used to apear in droughts in place of the thai/african shit. the stone was slightly stronger but it was still weak shit. was a really dark purple bone dry thai type of weed.

edit there was no seeds or anything like that in this weed but looks almost like that picture above but much much darker purple. kind of had a fruity taste.

I done this with some Swazi weed.

My mates and I saved the seeds and when grown into 'Sensi' it's fecking awesome.
Grows between 5-9 ft, last year i had to top the lot!!

That would have been the case if they were hardcore sativas.

I've grown a couple out, and if they don't get 6-7 months of veg for starters, they're unlikely to show, even preflowers!

Even mature clones take 20-30 days to show sex.

¿I imagine this was an outdoor affair - if so, ever tried them indoors, or know anyone who has?

i once grew out 2 'red beard' plants indoors from seed a friend visiting from Johannesburg brought over for me. They never seemed to stop stretching during flower and i managed to flower them for just over 8 weeks when they began throwing lots of male banana type pods. I harvested them at this point and they had a huge yield of long spiraling buds, quite pale green.
They seemed to take forever to dry properly and the joint always seemed to need relighting when smoking, probably to much flower nutrient. Loved the high though, quite energetic and uplifting. Quite a pain to grow though with all the training that was needed because of the stretch.

Gold seal and double zero, .........god I feel old.

Back in the day the only green we ever got was Jamacan brick, full of popping seeds it was a nice change from solids though, putting ganga in whiskey or Brandy has been around for donkeys years, the old Jamacians kept it as a cold cure, not sure if it helped with your cold but "when you mash up" it didn't realy matter.

Ahh brings back memories, we called it 'red beard' too... I always got alot of it from local hippy sites, but never good when you got one of the end deals and nearly half of what you bought was seed

here is a brick weed plant grow outside about 3 weeks old,i germinated it to see what the plant look like.

ha ha i just remembered i have 3 thai stick 'brick weed' ladies growing outside since april in a secret little plot, i just put them there and forgot about them not really expecting much as they were from so fa south. I'll go out and get some piccys for you all...

No Andy i cant bring her in, she'll will have to its thing outside,i suspect she'll flower until dec..i gereminated 3 seeds,only 1 cracked.the weed was an ok smoke-nothing mind blowing but better then soap.

yeah, that's called thai round here. the first actual weed i smoked was a £5 draw of that!

i like it if it's cheap. not a bad smoke but tends to taste like bonfires!

my mate got some a few months ago, i asked him to keep seeds for me, just out of curiosity, but he threw them all away "the weed was shit, so it wasn't worth it" he said. bell end ::

three in an old metal bucket, went in as lanky things and left to there own devices, happily they turned out to be all female and are my most advanced flowering plants, they are pretty sticky too

they must be about 6 foot tall, probably wont finish but i may try making some bho out of them

a friend of mine was in thailand 2 yrs ago and brought me back some thai weed seeds ,i planted them last yr outdide and ended up with a 10 foot monster sativa that smelled like fresh parsnips and smoked lovely,got about 10 ozs off it .

i thought about trying to get some to germ and maybe crossing it with a Northern lights or skunk 1,something not too tasty but maybe speed up the grow cycle and yield but try and keep the flavour.

I used to buy (before I started growing this year) my pot from an old friend Ive known since i was a kid, Anyway he's an old school smoker. Its wicked, he gets in all the old classics, I had a really nice bit of challis a while ago, some squidgy black, looked like gold seal and some thie stick. Gotta say Id rathyer smoke a good bit of solid than the old thie. I was only talking with him the other day about how thry grow it, what plant it is and why it comes squashed and full of seeds...
