Just had a look at a couple of my plants and found I've got fucking spidermites fyou.gif fyou.gif fyou.gif I'm 5 weeks into flower. Been down to the local grow shop and all they've got is some stuff that you can't spray on flowers/buds which isn't much use as they're on them too. As far as I can see I think that they're on 2 out of my 5 plants, trouble is I'm not in the postion to be able to keep them seperated. Any ideas what I can do?! cry.gif Are there any sprays or whatever that I can buy that I'm able to use at this stage in flower? Cheers for any advice...

SBPI or Harka-Mectin, providing you keep the Harka Mectin well away from the flowers

I have used SBPI on flowering plants kept spray to a minimum on the buds seemed to help. Also if you can get em stick a hotshot or two in the flowering room, will take care of the buggers!!

Whats SBPI? Are there any natural spays that I could use that are ok to spray on the buds? It's just that the main place the little bastards are is pretty much right on the buds so there's no way I could spray them without covering the buds too. cry.gif pooh.gif Also just found some bud mould...was all going so well... russian.gif

Hoover them off to keep the problem contained for now until you find a solution that works for you.

SB Plant Invigorator - think the sb bit's just a tradename. Used it a while back and I was lucky, no sign of the little shites since nea.gif I think when I used it I was about 5 weeks in flower, just avoided the buds while spraying. Gave a bit of leaf curl but much better than spidermites spliff.gif

All the best dealing with them mrweed thumbsup.gif

Honestly with bud mold I wouldn't spray anything on your plants. Anything you spray on your buds is going to make them more prone to mold....I would figure out how to fix your humidity and cut the crop and bleach the room....Just my 2 cents.

hi mate, i use neem repel and bud rot stop. you can use both right up to the day of harvest and they are both organic approved, give them a try you wont be disappointed, SP
GreenNinja
HotShot No Pest Strips - you'll need to get them on fleabay from the US, and if you're an organic grower or don't like pesticides avoid....otherwise hang one in your tent and it keeps the bastards away. Just make sure you hang it up and away from your plants, or down by the inlet - keeping it too close to the plants will hurt them, and you really don't want that stuff in your plants, but if needs must...so be it...

About 7 quid each I think

Really appreciate all the comments guys, you've all been really helpful, not sure about the hoover idea tho!!! I've got a dyson and reckon it'd suck the whole fucking plant up....pot and all!!! rofl.gif The SBPI stuff sounds really good and will see if I can find some tomorrow, if not I reckon I'll give the Neem Oil a bash as I'm hoping my local grow shop sells it as they do other stuff in the same range. Nice one guys, I'm feeling a bit more positive about it now, I thought it was all over earlier today!!! pinch.gif Will keep you updated...

Hey man, mites are my worst nightmare, i was distraught when i found i had them last year. A good product you can use on flowering plants is canadian express spray safe. Its desgined to be used in flower, and disolves the mites on contact, and their eggs.

I could never completly get rid of them using just the spray though. I threw away the plants that were infected the worst, and sprayed the rest. Kept all plants away from each other, so none are touching, and get as many fans in there as you can. They don't like wind, and they hate low temsp. If you can lower the temps that is your best weapon, as it slows their breeding right down, and then the sprays, and sponging the leafs can work very effectively.

In the end for me, i had them well under control, but i couldnever totally get rid of them in flower until i ripped down and disinfected everything. I did get rid of them in veg, but the temps were much easier to manipulate in there under an envirolite.

They also sell predators at progrow for not much. You can buy enough to wipe out mites in a 1metre square area for about a tenner. Never used them myself, i didnt see them until after i had torn down, and touch wood, i havn't had them back again.

Nice one Solid, well my plants are outside at the mo where its fairly cold and pretty windy so hopefully that'll piss the little bastards off until I can get something thats suitable for mass murder later!!! I think that thay may be on all my plants now, there's not thousands of them yet but still enough to cause problems...as I say hopefully I'll wipe loads of them out later...cheers for your advice

Ended up getting some "Hydrogarden Pest Off" for the spidermites, has anyone used this before? Sounds like it's really organic and it says you can cover the whole plant in it at any stage of the harvest (i.e. buds and all). I haven't done that yet though as I've got mould issues on the WW and Jack 47and don't want to make it worse, all I've done is sprayed some of the LSD and tried to avoid the buds, I'll have a look in the morning to see if it's killed the mites.
They also had the Hydrogarden Bud Rot Stop at the shop as well which I wish I'd got now, has anyone tried this and does it work? Thanks for any comments

yeah mate, hydrogarden are who make the neem stuff i use i also use the bud rot stop but i havent used the pest off but the other two are great mate, SP

i'm winning the battles with spider mites, but its difficult to win the war, the only sure way of eradicating is to clear your room as already suggested. i'm using blockout, its organic and i can use it every 3 days if needed it kills the mites and eggs. given the right conditions a spider mite can lay 200 eggs, takes 5 days to hatch, then you have 200 laying 200 and so on, but if you have mold yours should be less aggressive, mites like dry.

Yeah thanks SP, I was going to get the Neem Repel but the bloke said that it was more of a preventative rather than something to kill them which is why I got the pest off, had a look this morning and there do seem to be a few less but gave them another spray anyway. Thanks

Thanks for that Grandad, I think the only way forward is mass genocide!!! The stuff I've got has to actually be sprayed onto the mite to kill it, basically if it doesen't hit it it wont kill it so I've got no hope of getting them all but if I can keep the numbers down it's all good!!

plasti bottle with the bottom cut off, on the end of your hoover ( the long streatchy tube bit). put the bottle over your buds, giving a slight shake off the bottle and suck the fuckers away! its all you can do mate spliff.gif
drdoom:-)

I had mites dude - my mate brought them into my house from his mums veg garden cheers!

I used the sb stuff pretty good just make sure you do it before the lights go off or it can scorch them and crisp up the leaves. I also used a smoke bomg which are good as well - dont get one off ebay though as they are shit and mine didnt work get one from a grow shop. then hoover as previosuly mentioned.

good luck

Looks like there's a lot less of the bastards after using the Pest Off...only had time for a quick look but think it might have got rid of a load of 'em wink.gif
mrweed
Well I got some Hydrogarden "Bud Rot Stop" today and have sprayed all of my plants tonight so hopefully that's gonna sort them out in the mould department, the spidermites definitely seem to have dwindled in nuimbers compared to the other day so hopefully things are looking up, will let you know how the plants are looking tomorrow.... unsure.gif wink.gif
