ok so, it should be common knowledge that you can put a green light in your flowering room so that you can enter when your sodiums are off... whats this got to do with outdoor growing?

something has been bugging me for a long time and i have to ask you guys for some knowledge..

If you cover your plants with green fabric, thus blocking out the red/blue light from the sun, but still letting green light thru, is this not the same? are you not depriving your plants of the right kind of light?

and wouldnt covering a clear green house/ poly tunnel with green fabric/ plastic for 12 hours a day induce flowering??

i tried to have this conversation down the garden center , cos they got a big fuck off green fabric covered enclosure for their clones ( not cannabis) and they guy had never heard of plants not responding to green light .. ph34r.gif ph34r.gif seems like we all have some new shit to learn ..

people have done experiments with putting green walls in grow rooms (not on pot plants) and they found that the plants grew alot denser and bushed out more thinking they were in competition with plants on all sides.

Is it?

Some green light is absorbed, tis a question of how much - if all plants absorbed the same wave lengths they'd all be the same shade of green, since theyre not you can deduce that different plants absorb differing amounts of green light. Is this factual that cannabis is "ok" under green light in dark period?

the only factual fact i can put forward is that i have used green lights in previous grow rooms with success ... i guess the only way to know if it suits the strain that i grow outdoors is to try it next year

thanks for the input guys biggrin.gif

i've never messed about with light colours, and i've been in lots of growrooms repeatedly with the light on during dark period with no problems what so ever. it may not be good practice but its never caused me any problems with regular seeds. i would say its dependant on the strain if you get ill effects from light pollution during dark time. how do you know you had success with green lights? maybe normal light or red light would have produced the same non effect........ if you know what i mean. yinyang.gif

i had a grow room with over 100 plants with a green light (x2) in and i could leave it on 24/7 and it didnt effect flowering.. used them for around 2 years with no ill effects.. this was advised to me by a grow shop owner, it turned out to be just about the only thing he told me that was right lol.gif..
