I would not bother fella be more hassle than it's worth.it's easier to buy other wise u have to make thousands of holes thru ur ducting then wrap in that itchy shit then cover it all again ball ache. U need the holes to let a bit of air into the middle to form a little air sock to deaden the sound I know it's exspensive as iv just got it .
Mr P
You've bought the wrong ducting, if you want acoustic ducting you'll need to buy some.

suppose you could try the towel route like you say, it may help...no harm in trying it

you could also try wrapping the fan in a couple of towels and the tie it all up in one of them
bags you get from the sports shops ( the material ones with the string round top ) and cut a hole in the bottom for the ducting to pass through then tie it all up tight

although i expect that most of the noise will be the sound of the air rushing out the ducting on its way out

if moneys tight mate , experiment wink.gif

3 amp should be fine
leroy
it's not the ducting that makes the most noise for me and i use normal ducting, it's the air being sucked in though the cf that makes the most noise, only way to reduce that is fit a fan controller

i realize fowk say use bigger ducting than fan size

no, use the right size ducting as your fan or you could reduce/restrict air flow and have smell probs
