Hi all,

i hope u can help!

For the last week or so, i was losing 2-4 leaves a day, that were perfectly green the day before, and in most cases, they dropped before even turning yellow, just a very pale green color, today i lost 8 medium fans and 1 big fan, i barely have to touch the leaf when it starts to lime and it falls, its so weak.

anyway, i got out me mag glass and had a good look and spotted very small black dots on the underside of a few leaves. not many. maybe 2-3 on maybe 20% of the lower-middle leaf canopy. Even through a 6x mag glass i couldnt make out what they were, but i plucked a leaf with 1 on and it slowly wandered across the leaf.

I`m sure this was causing my leaf drop, i gave them epsom 2 days ago due to a deffo mag deff. the problem is i`m 3 weeks into 12/12, and the plant is probably on around week 5 of flowering as it started outdoors. I fear i may have been hasty....

I rushed out to the shed and grabbed me bottle of "Ultimate bug killer", pulled my baby from her cosy home, and gave her a GOOD folier spray dosing all over, trying to get the undersides too.(with limited success), trying to avoid the buds directly but they did get a good misting. The insecticide i used contained 0.150g/1 of Thiacloprid. whatever that is. it says its OK for Fruit ,veg and herbs so i assumed it would be OK, it says keeps working for 4-6 weeks. it doesnt mention spider mites on the label, but it does pretty much everything else.

What are these beasties? spider mites? my eyesight isnt bad but i saw no legs just a black dot that moved. there is no webbing that i can see on my plant, and not a lot of rust spots, but due to her vegging outdoors, there is a bit of insect damage. she's been inside now 19 days. when she was out i used the same sparay as a pre-caution with no probs, but as im in a vital flowering stage im petrified i`m gonna ruin my yeild or smoke.

Any help, advice, or anything here would be good.

thanks.

hi mate , normally you dont see the webs until spidermites are very well established. The first thing you notice is tiny spots on the leaves which are lighter green where they are eating from underneath and when you turn the leaves over then you see the black dots, i have never had leaves drop off with spidermites. Cant really comment on your spray as i have never used it. Maybe some photos might help.

Don't bring outdoor plants inside, they always have parasites on being kept in check by predators outdoors - indoors the mites [sounds like they are probably mites] are going to explode and gobble your plant up. You can order predatary mites that eat spider mites and their eggs from large/specialist garden centres or online.

In the mean time I would be spraying them with a mixture of garlic and water and controlling humidity, mites feed more when it's hot and dry, cool it down and raise humidity and it should put both plant and mites into a slower state whilst you get your stuff together.
