So I am looking to do my first grow withi the next few weeks and like the look of the female seeds range, but have no idea what to go for.

As its my first grow something that will be fine with the odd mistake would be awesome, also a very good yielder that would keep me in smoke for a while but good quality potent smoke.

Will be growing in a 2m high tent in hydro under a 600w lamp. So what would you experts recommend? smile.gif
vbombs
My first was super skunk from sensi mate , good yield and very potent indeed ,
simple enough to grow , they love their nutes for sure , i loved the strain so much
im growing it again after some time of trying many various strains i find myself
missing the good old days when i had the super , this time im usin the fems they
do now and to be honest im very impressed , competitive price too for sensi .

Whatever you end up goin with mate good luck with it all you l never
go back to dealer crap smile.gif

Awesome thanks for the response, I'll take a look.

From the female seeds range the ones that have caught my eye are the skunk special, white widow, or the white widow x big bud. Although I hear big bud is no to potent?
djay
For your first go i could recommend the pureak and also northern lights both are very forgiving and both produce a nice strong flavourd smoke with enough potency to keep you happy smile.gif

The whitewidow is not bad either but personally i would go with the above two and i am sure you they will do you proud.

I had though of the Pure AK, whats the yield like on that as doesnt mention anything on the site? Seeing as this is going to be done in the room I sleep in russian.gif a nice big yielder would be great, that way I wont need to have to start another grow for a while and can get some sleep without fan noise! tongue.gif
djay
Yield wise they are very good seriously thick dense nuggets and not to tall either.

Don't worry about sleeping once there done after a joint or so you'll be flat out on your back...

I ordered some last night smile.gif You say they don't get to tall, would a 160CM height be ok to grow in? If so what would you recommend the veg time be?

I will be growing them in Hydro.

Yeah your going to need to give them only like 3-4 weeks veg time would do this will help to control the height and also you can top the plant if you search for topping you will find out how to do this easily.

5ft 3 is an ok height but you have to take into account the distance from the top of your plants and the light your going to use i.e a 400watt around 9-12inch from the top and a 600watt around 18-24inch from the top of the plants so that takes your headroom down quite a fair bit.

Gill out your profile and it will make it easier for any help you need in the future.

Profile filled out! Thanks for all the help djay, if there was rep I'd give you some rep+ biggrin.gif

Am only going to grow 2 plants in the 80x80x160 for my first grow so enough room to grow outwards rather than upwards. smile.gif

Wow that's some seriously fast growth there man gonna be fairly dense in there.
Skinny_Jimmy
I'm going to be buying the PureAk next and some more Bubblegummers if there in stock. I love femaleseeds strains, I have NOT ONCE been dissapointed by the results! check out the bubblegummers in my link below. Theres a pic a few posts back of them in around week 4 and 5, they are fat, they stink and they're still packing on tonnes of weight!
BoredOz
Hmm these are taking a while to to germinate, been a week now and no results using the paper towel method. Seeds were pretty tiny compared to the size in others grow diaries.

I normally pop em in water for 24/48hrz then into either a pot with soil under a lamp or into a small container with some cotton wool which is slightly damp and keep them at a descent temperature.

Have to say i would be very surprised if they didn't pop as even with the freshest of seeds they germ quite easily just look at everyone's Icedgrapefruits those seeds were very new when everyone got those.

Aye I have popped them into a cup of water this morning to see how they go. When should they be taken out of the water?
djay
I would take those out after 48hrz max m8 usually they will sink to the bottom as they start to split.
BoredOz
Aye after some time submerged in cups 3 out of 4 have small tap roots showing, 3-5mm tap roots should be ok for rockwool aye?
Scribb|e
Yup - just be very careful to not disturb the taproot when you're handling them - use tweezers or something. wink1.gif

Aye i was careful, used a tooth pick to gently nudge the seed on to a Root Riot.

Been 3 days since I put them in root riots abouta seed length in deep and still no sign of seedlings. sad.gif Starting to have doubts about these seeds, wonder if they will even appear, looking at others diaries and they have all had nice seedlings within the time frame I have used.
djay
if you got tap roots then you should have seedlings no reason not unless conditions are not right.

BoredOz
Aye well, just put the bubblegummer and the last AK seed into the same paper towel enviroment that I did when I attempted to germ the AK's less than 24hrs and the bubblegummer has a half inch tap root and the AK has not even split yet.

Checked on the other AK's that went into the root riots after the 2mm tap root showed after 1 and a half weeks of germ by removing the corner of the root riot that was put on to cover them and they are all black so doesn't look like they will be going anywhere. Am going to put the nice looking bubblegummer into the same enviroment if it dies then I am more than happy to say its my enviroment if it doesn't then well I can only conclude that the Ak seeds were not right.
herbit
Strange , Ive never had any problems germing them buddy . good luck this time .
BoredOz
Well here is my experiment so far...

The free bubblegummer I got has sprouted into a seedling at 44hrs with 2 cute lil leaves poking out. The PureAK seed has not even cracked yet.. With them both being in the same enviroment I can't see it being anything I did wrong.

So where do I go from here, as it seems I may well have got a bad/old batch of seeds?

not so clear but you get the idea

Hi my very first grow was northern soul feminised and was very easy to grow. Bought 8 seeds and all grew into healthy girls. I will give you strong advice. If you decide to go with theses you better have some good extraction because theses do stinks
djay
Best advice is if you have had problems with the pure ak germ wise then email female seeds directly and they will sort something out for you although i have to say the batch your trying would be the same batch i tested and that other people have grown out with no problems but email them and they will help you.

BoredOz
Aye, no idea what it was, I honestly thought it was me being an noob at first but it was only when the bubblegummer popped did I start to really doubt the seeds.

Anyhow, emailed the people at femaleseeds and got a response in less than 24hrs so top marks on the response time alone! They could only conclude that the seeds may well have been exposed to severe temperatures during transport and have posted out a replacement pack of PureAK. (I didnt even have to ask).

So awesome customer service from femaleseeds especially when you read about other seed banks coming back with a "well thats life deal with it" response!

So yeah top marks to female seeds smile.gif Lets hope I have a bubblegumer and pureak grow to report back on wink1.gif The bubblegummer is looking good after 24hrs under the cfl though, first proper leaves have started to appear already.
