I toddled off to my local beach and found some seaweed, can I water this over my soil plants, is there any point or is this a really bad idea. Any advice, warmly recived

its fantastic stuff ......... but you need to either compost it or dig it in to your ground before planting, plus side with it is that it breaks down very easily in the composting process.

try mixing it with straw at a ratio of 2/1 (2 straw) if composting, or double digging works well .

Whats the best Rip?Bladderwrack or kelp?I have a few black-bags of each, going to mix it with Trout-offal when I can work up the nerve to try and blend it,stinks to high heaven though unsure.gif

Don't forget to wash the salt off or collect it after a heavy rain storm wink.gif

Bad Penny - Kelp would be better for composting as it has more dynamic accumulators, see below:

You could also make your own liquid seaweed feed (like Maxicrop) - get a 10 gallon container, half fill it with seaweed and top up with water. Let it brew for 3 months and then it's ready. Make sure you dilute it (about 10ml to 1 litre of water) as it's quite strong. spliff.gif
