I have to decided to flower some bonsai mums which i no long require. They have been kept in coco and 1 liter pots for about 6 months now, and are pot bound.

Can anyone advise about potting up for these mums. Do i just stick them in a large 5 or 10 liter pot or do i do it gradually. The rest of the plants will go into flower in five days time so they aint got a lot of time left in the veg room.

Cheers

better to pot them up gradually and give them some time to stretch their legs after so long in a small pot but if theyre only extras to your grow and you cant be arsed then just go for a pot 2 or 3 times the volume and then flower when you turn the rest

Hiya Subboy,

I would look at the roots first and if the roots are still nice, white and healthy looking then I would pot up in stages as and when needed, but if on inspection of the roots, the roots are brown and woody looking then I would root prune approximately 1/4 inch from each side (if in square pot) and 1/2 inch off the bottom and re pot it back into the 1ltr pot for a week or 2 in veg on a 24/7 cycle to get her growing good and healthy again and then pot up into 3ltr pot and then into it's final 6.5ltr pot, well that is how I do mine. Good luck.

Peace,
