Mr. Sparkle
Hi,

Ever since I was traumatised once by a grow ruining attack of fungus gnats and what I think was some sort of Leaf Spot Fungus I've had a pathological fear of grow room pests fear.gif

I thought I saw something running across the growroom floor 31.gif ... a little bug, light in colour and 1mm or less, fast moving and elongated in shape.... it escaped doh.gif

I'm keeping an eye on temp and RH in my grow and have treated my young plants with dithane already and more recently with a homemade concoction of teatree & garlic yucky.gif

But just in case some little horror takes hold in my grow I'm looking for an insecticide thats capable of nuking as many critters as possible but is hopefully safe enough to use on consumable crops, at least in early veg stage unsure.gif

I've read the pest control FAQ's and they mention products containing bifenthrin

then I saw this at my local DIY superstore

Provado Ultimate Bug Killer (Bayer)

It says on the label on the one in the shop that it contains 10g/l Imidacloprid in suspo-emulsion ermm.gif Is this any good or is it concentrated evil no.gif (I recall accidentally thinking Systhane fungus fighter would be a good idea once, then later finding out it was systemic awfullness sick.gif )

I did some looking and Bayer say this product contains Thiacloprid g.gif

Can anyone shed any light on this for me? I don't want to melt my plants or harm my health, but I am prepared to be quite harsh in the event of borg, thrips or fungus gnat invasion spam_laser.gif

that provado stuff is good but get the one in the ready mixed spray bottle cos apparently its better.

provado vine weevil killer 2 does for the fungus gnats and scarid flies, but i'm pretty sure its not to be used in flower, if at all. some people advise against any systemics, not tried it myself, but i know someone who got rid og the gnats with it.

Cheers folks smile.gif

I saw that vine weevil killer but thought better of it. Anyway there's been no further sign of pests (yet fear.gif) so I have longer to search for the real ultimate bug killer wink.gif I put some flytraps up for now just in case rofl.gif
