So Ive got an Xbox 360, an HD tv, do I just take the HDMI cable out of the dvd player, plug into the xbox then into the TV? What about surround sound? Is there not an optical out socket on the xbox so I can put it into the surround system?

Well considering a lot of games have a dolby soundtrack, and because lcd tvs tend to sound tinny, I thought Id give it a go with the surround.

hdmi carries the video and audio. if your TV is rigged to your surround sound it will work .

as long as you have an xbox Elite you can get hd, i had to use one of these to get sound though

all 360's since oct 07 have hdmi as standard

You have to change the display settings on your xbox to run it in HD too. Plus your HDMI component cable.

Every xbox 360 has HD. I dont use HDMI, i use a VGA HD lead for mine. One part of the lead goes into the tv for HD pic and the other parts of the cable go into my dvd player for surround sound.

there is a marginal difference as VGA is Analogue your not going to get as sharp a picture as with the digital HDMI . it is noticable in a side to side comparison

Well Ive just plugged in the HDMI straight from the xbox to the tv, GOW2 looks absolutely amazing! I didnt know that about the display settings, Ill do that, maybe it'll be even better!
