Hi, I know there are alot of variac topics but I cant seem to find a diagram just for using it as a controller with no thermostat or anything.
Can anyone tell me if this is right?

Sound that mate thumbsup.gif , if you find you have to turn the variac in the opposite direction just swap around your live and neutral ( terminals 1 & 2 )

I've just wired it up though exactly like the diagram, plugged it in and nothing is happening :?
is it definitely right?
any ideas?

edit: I think I found the problem, i assume that piece of metal underneath that looks like a hair clip is supposed to touch the outer ring? cos i noticed it wasnt so pushed it against it with a piece of plastic (trying to be careful not to electrocute myself unsure.gif) and it works.... i guess it had been bent away from the coils.... hmm

it would be a lot easier to use 63mm female spade connectors instead of soldering.
