Full Version: Bugs On My Chillis

I'm guessing, since I'll be eating the fruits that chemical pesticides are a no-no (plus I'd like to be as organic as I can) so what's the best way to get rid of bugs on chillis?

The insurgents are 1 - 1.5mm or so, yellow and when I have a look with my loupe, they seem to have a couple of black hairs running down their backs. They're also quite fat. I'm guessing they're aphids or something so I got a pic (admittedly a pretty crap pic but it gives you an idea...):

Thanks ratdog, just a bit worried about using washing-up liquid though, won't that affect the taste come harvest? Obviously I'd be washing them before eating but...

Was I right with the aphids ID though?

They are indeed aphids. You could probably just squirt them off with water if there aren't too many, and keep an eye out for reappearances.

Grab a couple of ladybirds from around the garden and put them on your chillis - they'll munch those suckers in no time. Ladybirds are your friend smile.gif

Cheers fellas, I was thinking earlier about putting a little spider on them but I guess ladybirds would be a better option. I think I'll get my 5 year old on the hunt for ladybirds in the garden!
