If my res temps went above 24c, how bad is this??

Reason i ask is that my system is a bubbling flood drain, it floods with bubbled water and then drains. Will this be bad for the plants as they only have this for 5 mins every 3hrs unsure.gif

Res has 2 x 5 inch airstones bubbling away, so is it still a major issue as i think the water would be cooler with all the air blowing through it in each pot unsure.gif

cheers peeps yinyang.gif

Anyone, Res temp Hit 26c yesterday sad.gif

It is bad - nute temps should be 18-20c wherever possible because of a number of reasons, mainly:

- dissolved O2 goes right down above 20c
- environmental conditions for pythium/root rot are ideal (BAD)

Roots will brown and start to die. Get your temps down, either using frozen bottles of water or buy a chiller (expensive). If you can't get the temps down reliably, personally I'd repot your plants into coco - heatwaves and un-chilled hydroponics do not work well ime.

Cheers for the reply

My plants are not sat in the water, they only get the water for 5mins every 3hrs from the res, but when it does flood the pots its bubbling like hell due to my airstones in them.. wink.gif

will this not cool the solution to the roots, or is it just bad having the water that warm in the res full stop unsure.gif

ice packs and frozen bottles are being put in the res so if i can make it past this warm spell, hopefully i willl be ok unsure.gif spliff.gif

I think you`ll get more cooling as the buckets drain and draw in fresh air (evaporative cooling effect).
On the flipside, if your room temp is high, the thin film of water left behind on the media/roots will heat up pretty fast.
If you are pumping air into the empty buckets, i would check to make sure its cool air, not hot.

mines been upto 26c m8, i dont think you can do alot about it tbh, adding froozen bottles of water supposed to help, but i find they mealt within minutes.

Air only comes on when it floods wink.gif
