Hi guys & gals,

Currently having a bit of a mare...
This is my 2nd attempt at growing, and it was all going lovely, 2 very nice scrogs, a GHS Trainwreck and a DP Power Plant as scrogs going.
Its about 4/5 weeks into flower now for the TW (3 for the PP), an then one day I noticed silvery marks...
Thrips! teeny crawly little buggers..

I had in my greenhouse, some 'Vitax 2-in-1 organic' pest & fungus control - a mix of sesame oil & fish oil(!) that I used on our cucumbers that liked to go mouldy, so I sprayed them Sunday morning & then they went in for a day under the lights (tho learnt now I should have done it a lights out).

The bad news: This stuff stinks of fish. Its really quite horrible. Killed most of thrips tho (NOT ALL! Grrr!), but VERY smelly.

The also bad news: It seems to have 'wilted' all the nice pistils(?) from all the buds...
Either that or a hermie popped & fertilised the whole cupboard at the same time as I sprayed. Trichs look normal still.

The Really bad news: Starting on lower leaves (possibly ones that were shaded or at least held the damp Im guessing) I am getting dark patches, as if the cells walls of the leaves are just breaking down. At first, its dark green & soft and the leaves start curling upwards - some into tubes, then it goes papery and dry.

It affects only one leaf of a fan leaf to start with, so I'm guessing its not nutritional.
Could this be a fungus from it being damp after the spraying?

They are in 10L tubs with compost mixed with garden soil & some added bonemeal to help during flowering.
I know, the untreated soil may be a bad move - thats probably where the thrips came from I guess but I wanted all the good bugs too.
Not needed any ferts so not used any - very healthy growth right up until this all happened.

Thnx in advance,
- L.H.Hip

Thrips carry lots of plant diseases and canna plants are very susceptible to them.

Good luck you will need it, the only thing to kill thrip these days is scotts bug clear with horticultural soap used every 3/4 days until there gone, no organic remedies work that I no of and when you do get thrips, you should hit them hard straight away otherwise you end up with a super thrip colony that is resistant to all pesticides, so hit em hard and regular until there gone, otherwise I guarantee they will be back on your next grow. Make sure you spray mostly under the leaves, absolutley soak em mate every treatment.
e2a: Welcome to 420 my green friend.

Peace,
GG
