Full Version: My Hedge Is Going Brown?

Hi,

I'm not a very good gardener (well, not conventional gardening anyway naughty.gif ) & I don't even know what the bush is at the front of my house, I think it is a conifer but not sure. It is about 8ft high, 3ft wide & very dense & runs the whole width of my house out front & works perfect for total privacy. I can fire up my volcano with confidence smoke.gif

But it is getting very large patches of brown all over it & I don't know what I should do? It's due for trimming & re-shaping but I don't want to cut new growth off if it is dying cry.gif

Can anyone shed some light based on my very vague description please.

Thanks spliff.gif

Dog`s urinating on it?

I've heard that before, and I am sure there are dogs urinating on it. But the brown patches are on both sides & most of the brown patches are pretty high up meaning a 6ft dog or the urine at the bottom is killing the plant from the roots?

Is there anything I can do to help the bush & prevent it from dying? It's just that it is pretty much my front garden 'fence' & would cost a fortune to replace, not to mention the hassle. It is approx 8ft tall, 3ft wide & about 40ft long!

Any solutions please?
