I had a few black bream off brighton beaches/marina recently..Rag tipped with fish or squid on a size 4 or 2 hook with a few coloured beads above it..Really tasty fish but not many big enough to keep tho..Good luck..

How far were you casting out from the beach mate? And was that fishing it up?

I reckon the Marina's going to be rammed tomorrow, so i'm thinking give the Marina a miss & head to Hove beaches, for this high tide.

Ain't got no rag, so macky & squid it will be.

I'll letcha know how we get on lol.gif

High..I always fish 2hrs before HT to 2hrs after and have caught bream throughout.Mostly i cast as far as i can (prob only 100m max).Had a few behind the king alfred leisure centre too..Went past the marina yesterday and it looked closed as it was really windy....There been a few good bass off the beach to squid lately too.. Check out woldseafishing south coast forum for latest catches..
I will try and get out for a bit tomorrow too so i will post in here and let you know how i get on..
Good luck mate..
Mono
Thanks for tip Plotty...

The bream down this way prefer lug or crab baits....like you said though small hooks and beads.....

Bish you better sniff some out for me!

Had one Bass on squid, & then apart from a few Wrasse knocks, nothing.

Bloke next to us was catching Bream on lug (with beads) - though i had no lug! 34.gif

Can you get a few lug to bring Monk?

Cheers for the info Plotty - yeah, i'm always looking at the reports on WSF smile.gif
Mono
Which day we fishing rudeboy?

Yeah I'll have a sniff round for some lug, working mon-thurs next week, but try and slip out thurs afternoon/evenin and dig some...it's a bit dodgy down this way at moment, red algae bloom is killing lots of worm and small fish, starves the water of oxygen I think.

Is it worth me bringing some peeler along? I got a pretty good source for peeler at moment, fiver a dozen wink1.gif

What tackle I need for marina? Beachcasters? carp rods? What size weights you need? grips etc? Worth taking a spinning rod to play with too?

Nice on the bass today too! B) Keeper? Wrasse I am so fookin bored with, I hope we don't dissolve into a wrasse sesh next week, although they do give you a bit of fun if there's fook all else about....

Plotty, I normally catch bream on 2-3 hook flapper type rigs, red and orange beads, bottom snood flowing below weight...is that gonna work marina?

Could I fish one rod like that for bream, and another carp rod with a large peeler, or squid bait on a big hook for bass?

Sorry for q's Plotty, i like to be pprepared, lol.gif

lol.gif, just a thought, live sandeel any good in Marina? i could bring a bucket of them up, lol.gif, me missis 'll go spare having them in the car, but reckon I can get away with it if you reckon they would be a killer bait there...

Hello mate..I just use a 2 hook flapper with size 2 or 4 hooks..Your rig will work fine at the marina tho..A carp rod would be good sport but i would worry about dragging bigger fish up the wall, even at high tide it's quite a drop unless you got a drop net?Bream put up a nice fight for the size so maybe fish a lighter rod for bream.I was on the beach next to the marina yesterday with a 2 hook flapper for bream and a 2nd rod with big lug/fish cocktail baits for bass.No bass but i had 5 bream on lug/fish,one of which was on a 3/0 hook on the bass rod..Also had a micro bass and a 8oz tub gurnard..
All fish caught from 2hrs before HT and i ran out of bait at 1/2hr after HT and the bream where still biting..The bream seem to be in groups so when your on them keep casting to the same spot and try and stay with them..I got a fish per cast today and only had 1 frozen makkie and 10 lug...
Good session for me..Might put some pics up later..

Crap tide on Saturday Monk, so i wouldn't bother bring any wrigglers - but do bring some lug & we'll hit those Bream smile.gif
Mono
Sounds good PP, cheers for tips....bream on a 3/0!?!?!? Must have been an eater?

Yeah got to love a shoal of bream, I found a shoal last summer on a shingle beach down here, 2 rods out with 3 hook flappers, constantly running from rod to rod, both tips hammering away, never had a night like it, then bang, gone, just as quick as they arrived....

What about weights PP? Is there much tide flow round your way? Do I need 5oz, 6oz, 7oz..? Grippers or plain will be fine?

lol.gif

Thanks, yeah, put some pics up!!!!!

Monk...x
Bish
Plain 3-4oz will be fine mate.

<New Tackle>

Brand new Garbolino Carp Knockout 12ft Waggler rod arrived today - so will try it out bank holiday Monday!

My old Shimano 13ft XTA hasn't quite got the beef to bully 5-10lb Carp from smashing me up in the margins, so i reckon they'll be in for a surprise! gunsmilie.gif

nice bass mono ............................. smoke.gif

lol.gif thanks for replies...yeah I'm chuffed...

And , yeah I'm lucky too, as you know , any fishing success has some element of luck, but this bass was a very jammy catch indeed, a whole series of events, which had they occurred differently wouldn't have resulted in this fish....but that's fishing, you know what I mean....

Eating tonight martin?!?!? No, caught it Saturday at dawn, was scaled and filleted by lunch, and bish cooked it to perfection on a barbie for us that evening....and it WAS very tasty....Tonight we got gurnard fillets for starters, followed by plaice for mains, just had a couple of mackerel for breakfast....Spent the whole morning filleting yesterday's catch, was out on boat for the day....

And off down the allotment in a bit to dig in all the remains....

Never get sick of fish.

Monk...x

Mono
No BP, the phone was just popped in the fish's mouth for a sense of scale.....lol.gif, caught on whole calimari squid and peeler cocktail....

Squid and peeler cocktail, what self respecting bass could turn that down eh
Bad Penny.
I thought for some strange reason you had stuck the phone on the line as a joke and managed to catch a fish on it doh.gif I was going to dig out my Nokia 3310 and see if I could land a pike biggrin.gif

lol.gif would probably work out cheaper, and no less effective than some of the modern bass plugs and poppers on the market......if you could seal it in some sort of skin and have it flasshing and vibrating in the water it'd probably do okay lol.gif
