Full Version: Reservoir - Water Capacity?

Hi, seems to be a lot of hydro experts on here, just wondering if anyone knows what is the least amount of water you can have in a res, without the ph and whatnot being unstable? I was thinking of using about 15 - 20 litres. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

The gt205i nft system has a 20 litre tank...good for 2 to 4 plants. But I would suspect that the size of the tank would would limit the amount of plants...In theory you could have a hydro system with one plant and say a 5 litre tank.

Think I might give it a go

Not sure on the numbers but they should be based on the size of the lighting. A 1200w grow will use twice as much nutes as a 600w grow so should need twice the res capacity.

If in doubt, go for the biggest res you can manage.

Thanks for the replys guys, I probably will go for about 50 litres, been wanting do do hydro for a while, tried it before in a nft but didn't work out (root rot). Thinking of a diffrent approach.

Easy..

It's when you complete a post and then decide "that's not helpful/I've just written crap" and delete the text (but the post still remains...

I was simply going to laugh 'cos you'd asked "What's the least you can have", and another poster replied "As much as you can manage"... which sent my head into a spin for a minute...
