Full Version: What Week Should Flushing Begin For Afghan Cheese?

Hi all,
Some of you who may be reading this will probably have already been through my diary and my progress so far.
I've seen a lot of strains talked about on the site but i haven't read anything so far on Afghan cheese. Has anyone got any idea of how long it's flowering time is and when it would be best to give it plain old water for flushing out the nutes?
I'm currently on day 1, week 4 of flowering and the pictures are in my diary if that will help.
hanks in advanced guy's.
I'm currently using VitaLink bloom A & B nutrients

doh.gif i've just realised that i started this thread in the wrong topic section. Sorry mods.

Thanks for the info lDlRlE oN DaT GooD. When i started this grow i estimated that it would be about the end of August when they're ready for harvesting. It looks like i was only out by about 2 - 3 weeks.
Oh well. Looks like i'll have to patiently wait it out.

I went up into the grow room today (3rd day in a row) even though i've not really had much to do in there and i noticed one of the plants has some of it's pistil hairs turning brown.
I was reading another diary,Rebel 84's - 4 strains, but mainly cheeses, and he was talking about pistils turning brown as though it was a completely normal thing. I can only assume that it is part of the flowering process and new ones grow in place and do exactly the same thing over and over during bud growth.
Can anyone confirm this so as to ease my mind?

Pistils browning (they ussually actually turn really nice shades of pink and amber in most strains) is a natural part of flowering mate. As the rate of new pistil formation slows the proportion of brown pistils will increase, until eventually new pistil production stops and all the pistils are brown.

Pistil browning can be used as a way to decide on ripeness although more experienced growers go by colour changes in the trichs. The rule of thumb for pistils is harvest when about 80% of the pistils are brown.

Lots of pistils browning very early in flower (prior to about week 4) may be a sign of pollination from stray pollen from a hermie or unidentified male.

Edit to emphasis the Lots in the last sentence. A few pistils browning during week 3/4 of flowering is normal in my experience.

Cheers for that info Blue. The pistils that are browning, or appear to be, are only on some of the smaller ones below the main canopy area. Just on the smaller branches.
The browning is light and there doesn't seem to be a lot based on what i've seen.
I figured that it must be normal as i've not read anything on it in the sick plants section and again, Rebel was talking about it as though it's totally normal.
Anyway, thanks for putting my mind at ease and to remove any doubt, none of the plants in the grow room are hermie's and as i was in the grow room practically every day during their vegetative inspecting them as though it was a religion.
agito
in hydro the last week does it
