My dad went to a car boot sale on sunday and got me a little gift.

i'd mentioned them a few months ago, but at around 100 quid eek.gif forget it.

the one he found had a missing bulb & a broken bulb ,still in the holder pinch.gif
no instructions ,no pots, just a barebones aerogarden.
good job it was cheap !
i looked for the price of lamps last night , but at £15 + P&P for what amounts to a pair of 26wcfl's
fyou.gif
the lamp arm has to be removed by gently pressing the clip

Then out with the screws and in with some proper lampholders
9 screws hold the reflector into the top.

then the figure 8 electrical connector (thank god they used something standard)

i turned the reflector over to see the holders just slip out yahoo.gif

unfortunately mark was having a joint , so i cut it whistling.gif

i had to chamfer the edge to fit it in the groove

then i drew round the ring from a lampholder for the hole,

and drilled it out

the bayonet fitting bit screwed into the hole in the new holder

quite a nice fit with the earth clamp sliding into some of the original bodywork of the hood

then it was just a matter of soldering a new parallel link between the figure 8 connector and the new holders.
some heat shrink sleeve and insulation tape finished it off neatly
Tremont-Salby
tried a securing ring for size, then the lamps.

they fit fine, so i stuck the fancy cone shaped thingies on , the lamps back in. and reassemled it for testing (plugged into an RCD of course)

One issue i have is it doesn't appear to be aeroponics as i'd have defined it...

i suppose the Dribble-O-Garden wouldn't have the same ring to it whistling.gif

The next mountain ( more of a hillock ) is that the little baskets for holding the plants are like hens teeth, rocking horse shit and decent coppers.
So i'll have to make some...
Also there's going to be an airstone fitted inside, connected to a pump, and i'll see if it is any good for rooting some cuttings for my forthcoming attempt at hydro yahoo.gif
