Full Version: 3-fingered Salute From Dj Short Blueberry
UK420 > Cultivation > Outdoor Growing > Growing Under Glass
Laramie
Here is the remains of my stock of DJ Short Blueberry clones. This one refuses to grow more than 3 leaves.

There are 2 plants, one either end of the 'greenhouse' thing; grown all summer the roots completely filled 20L pots before re-potting into much larger pots.

I love the smoke of these but hate growing them - this pheno behaves perfectly until week 4/5 of flowering when the leaves curl up like they've been overfed (without ever being fed) and slowly starts to die. And the indoor ones attract aphids like nothing I've ever seen.

So this is last chance saloon for this pheno.

I'm going to start covering it 8pm - 8am for the next 2/3 weeks to start flowering, and hopefully will be done end of Sept/early Oct.

Bad Penny.
This should be interesting,I am growing BB from DP,hope your forcing/shading works out, will be good to see how well she buds ph34r.gif

That looks like a jungle 34.gif Are the pictures decieving? I can't tell how big they are but they look huge.. Look very healthy, will be following this to see how they bud.. I found it a nightmare covering mine in the greenhouse, have cracked it now though.. good luck biggrin.gif

Nice training skills there larmie,I dont think I've seen such big plants trained so low.

I'll keep my eye on this thumbsup.gif

Not as big as it looks smile.gif Before I bent them the stems were about 3' long. The whole thing is about 30cm high from soil to tips.

They are in a 1000 litre oil tank, cut in half with casters added. The grow area is about 6' by 3'6". I then got 2 pieces of 8'x4' galvanised mesh and bent it from one side to the other to make a barrel top (about 6' at apex), which I covered with clear plastic. The ends are open, so I can angle it according to the wind. I use canvas from a £6 pup tent from ebay to cover it. I can make it higher by adding a couple more pieces of mesh.

e2a. The tank isn't full of soil, the pots hold about 150 litres.

The reason for the wheels is that I can get an extra 2 hours of sun a day by pushing it 10m, or put it under cover, tuck it out of the way etc.

Sounds wicked. I look forward to seeing them in flower. Is the canvas you are using totally black-out? Ignore me if you like as I'm only a noob and I'm sure you know more than what your doing, its just that I tried using the canvas from an old gazebo and it just wasn't dark enough sad.gif

Not 100% blackout in full sunshine, but I decided not to worry too much because the light before 8am/after 8pm doesn't penetrate much so will have the effect of knocking 1-2 hours from current light regime. e2a. It is very dark brown canvas, but I also have a khaki one I can double up with. They are ex-army tents (eastern block??) , heavy canvas material and very very cheap.

I will cover it for 2 weeks, say until 20th August, by which time it should have started flowering and will continue under natural light. It is the laziest way I could think of to knock a few weeks off finishing time.

thats what u call a jungle/cannabis farm/cannabis factory/mini rainforest, all in one. how can ur neighbours not smell that? good grow though, lot of ounces will be smoked from this grow.

Good luck.

Cheers mate,

Just over a week of 12/12 shading, and I have an important job to finish for Friday so am looking for displacement activities to take my mind off things.

Filling out quite nicely, stems have grown 6".

Just a quickie to note the leaves are bone dry in the mornings at 8/9 am when uncovered, unlike the outsiders which are still dripping at 11.35am on another damp August morning.

I should also add these have been grown in West+, no nutes. I have used Essence 3 times, and add 5ml Bio-silicon and some Bio-wetter to each watering.

I've also used granules (and/or Rootgrow) with each potting up, including the last one from 20 litres.
Laramie
Another week, in full flower now and I will stop with the shading. I reckon I've taken 3 weeks off the finishing time, hopefully end of September/start October.

Got a couple of sneaky slugs taking large chunks out of my buds, so have put down pellets, which I don't normally use, but no animals can get in here (apart from slugs).

I'm loving the mini-outdoor tunnel and the plants are fitting in very tidily, looks like you're going to have some good results in there soon biggrin.gif

Thanks guys

10 days on and the sunshine couldn't have come at a better time.

Have taken the cover off for the sun, but continue to cover at night so no dew = dry in the morning.

Here they are today

Laramie
I found a small amount of budrot today so have decided to harvest them now rather than risk the crop.

They could have done with another week or two, but I think the smoke will be just fine smile.gif

Laramie
Here's a few more, hopefully a bit better (windy here today)

Looks great man, well done! Any chance of seeing some pics of the harvest once it's all dried?

It's a shame they had to come down already but those purple buds look beautiful, congratulations guitar.gif
MartininLondon
Sweet man, they look good. Did you get a pic of the bud rot? I had a bit on one of mine next to a stem which was touching the fence. I am watching the plants like a shite hawk now and very twitchy about bud rot.

Lovely looking plants man
Laramie
I didn't take a photo of the rot, too much of a panic. I'd been checking morning and evening, so knew it had hit fast.

The rot was at one end where it gets wetter. I also found one small leaf which was starting to rot, but nothing else.

I did leave about 15% of the plant unharvested, so will see what happens to that in the next 2-3 weeks.

I also left a couple of buds which I'd pollinated with some DP Blueberry, and I have another one in a pot pollinated with Bubblegum, so will try those next year.
Laramie
Next year I will start forcing mid July and cover up the ends better.

I might even put in autopots - I reckon I can fit 4 or 5 of the twin pots in the tank. Or maybe just an automated watering system.
